Hubert Davis - New HC for UNC

As a Pitt fan, I fully endorse this hire.

North Carolina could have gotten ANYONE and they hired a guy who Pitt fans would have said wasn't qualified to coach here. Yet, people say Brandin Knight shouldn't be hired because we wouldn't look at him if he wasnt an alum?

Juwan Howard has really changed the thinking on these hires. Programs are looking more at former NBA player alums who have never been HC's. TT is in serious talks with Darvin Ham. Of course there's Woodson from IU.

Brandin is our next HC. The question is when.

Wow....I didn't expect him to get the job since he has no HC experience, but I get it. Steve Robinson, with HC experience, may still be on the bench to assist.

I totally forgot that Davis played in the NBA on the Knicks. That was a lifetime ago. He's more known now for being an ESPN personality.

Makes sense since they wanted to keep it “in the family.” On paper they could’ve made a better hire but I’ll wait to see what he can do until making a judgement.

Yeah, I think Steve Robinson staying on is key here. He's been Williams' top assistant for decades.

Matt Doherty played at UNC and was endorsed by Dean Smith.

We’ll see if Davis has a longer tenure or not.

If you know anything about Carolina basketball, it was always going to be a Carolina guy. Smith wanted Guthridge, Smith wanted Williams and Williams wanted Davis. Done deal and nobody at Carolina will be complaining.

I actually believe he has an impressive resume.
He played at North Carolina, where he was an all conference performer. Then spent the next 12 seasons in the NBA. Worked 7 years for ESPN as a basketball analyst , so he is media savvy. In addition, Davis had been an assistant coach at unc for 9 years.

I think they could have done a lot worse. Davis was quite impressive on ESPN earlier this evening joking around with all the other analysts.

Has there been any reports indicating if Wes Miller was considered for the job, as previously speculated?
