Hasn’t been on the bench since the announcement he’s taking the year off.

Is he still in school? Does he still practice?

It would be nice if he has a future here if he’d still sit on the bench during home games. Was nice to see Dior animated and into the games recently

Please knock this off already. He's going through some tough situations in his life and some of you poke fun of his physical appearance? A few days ago I've heard him as well Dior will return next season which is good news. H2P!!
uh, thanks Karen...we needed that.

He just needs to go in the portal if he is moving on. No hard feelings but it has to happen

Yeah I want to see him turn it around here but if he doesn’t, hopefully he can be successful somewhere else. Seems like a decent kid with lots of stuff to work through. A shame it may derail his basketball career.

Same ole culprits smh your just awesome
If you are going to virtue signal with the effectiveness you are going for, your grammar and sentence structure may have to tick up a notch or two. That was a tough one to understand.

You better check your sources. Neither is going to happen. Open your eyes.

wym? you said check your sources but open your eyes.. do you have sources?

I'd bet at least one returns.

John Hugley wants to be here. Regardless of what people say.. because I know some will say he isn't.. but he was our lead recruiter in the offseason. He wants to be at Pitt.. he's going through some issues. As long as Capel wants him back, he'll be back.

Exactly 💯 but hearing both. H2P

Hugley is a different type of situation. He may want to be here and maybe he'll get back in shape. But he has some mental health issues that need tended to and those come first. That will potentially interfere for him playing no matter where he ends up. But it probably won't be Pitt. Getting his mental state fixed is much more important than playing a game. And that will take time.

Forget Johnson. That's been over.

if there was no hope with Dior I'm not sure he'd be on the bench and practicing. Capel is recruiting him to stay every single day. Without any inference from anyone. Selling him on the frontcourt he'll have next year... hell, doesn't even need to sell it.. as a guard, wouldn't you want to come back and play with the twins, Hinson and possibly Hugely? In the ACC? starting job handed to you? on a team that made the tournament last year? Hard to think of a better spot to showcase your talent.. especially with how Capel lets his guys play with freedom. That's appealing.. very guard centric offense with freedom to make plays. would also show scouts you've grown up by not jumping ship again. there's too many selling points to say Dior won't return.

He's bern jumping around, celebrating during timeouts. For him, its either Pitt or G-league. He isnt transferring down to mid-major unless we kick him off for something. And no P6 is taking him at this point

i have zero info but i dont think Dior is going to find a better fit than pitt next year. 4 guards all graduating, the starting guard and 30+MPG are all but guaranteed for him here, i mean it's his job..

obviously what he thinks of pitt, the school, the program and Capel are the deciding factor but everything is set up for him to take the reins (or is it reigns) of this program.

like most of you on Hugley, yeah, he's gone. wish him well and lets find an actual post player for next year so we dont have to continue to shoot 40 Three pointers every game..

Johnson is a kid and has been to 37 schools while he's played. He's as fickle as the rest of them, probably more so. You can't trust the kid. It's possible he'll be gone before the end of the season. With him, anything is possible. He could say he's staying at Pitt, be part of summer practices, and be gone before the season starts if he doesn't get what he wants.

With the other factors:
1) There is no guarantee that Hugley will be here next year and it is just as likely he won't be here.
2) There is no guarantee that Pitt will make any tournament this year. NIT is more likely, but that's not even guaranteed. NCAAT is a tall order at this point, looking at their schedule. They'd have to at least win 6 of their remaining games then a game or 2 in the ACCT to be considered for the NCAAT. So no guarantees.
3) I think Fede is more of an enticement that the twins, but the twins may turn out decent.

There's a lot of work to be done on this team before we can say they have the makeup to be a decent team next year. I'm not sure Johnson wants to play on a team that won't give him a chance to showcase his talents, especially in post-season tournaments. He has only one objective: to go pro ASAP. He's just as likely to do that next year as he is to play college ball somewhere. With him, I'd never count on anything beyond what he does today.

I hear what you're saying, Zelda. And I somewhat agree. Pitt will give him probably the best chance he will have to play immediately. The guys coming in, if they even get here, will take time to develop. So yes, this is an ideal situation for him IF he decides to stay in college. But that's the question. And Johnson isn't known as a man of his word.

i dont agree with SMF saying that no D1 school will touch him though. i think plenty of schools will take that chance. Especially now in this current climate where roster turnover is 50+% yearly..

I just hope he stays, we'll need all the help at guard we can get.

if we dont make at least the NIT this year, something went HORRIBLY HORRIBLY wrong. dont agree with your cynical view on our NCAA chances. 6 out of the next 10 and 1 win in ACC tourney gets us in.. Im putting us right now at 50% chance of being in the tourney..

and dont ask me how i came up with 50%. it is a proprietary algorithm that i created based on many many factors..

Totally. Rather than dread a repeat of Capel’s regular February disaster, let’s note that this collection of guys have already been a 180 from what most expected of the team this season…so let’s continue that and turn February on it’s ear as well.

They have to go 13-7 and then win 2 games in the ACCT just to be CONSIDERED??? So if they go 13-7 and lose to BC in the 1st Round, the committee wont even consider them at all? I doubt that.

Plenty of D1 schools would take him. I said no P6 schools will. The great BballinsiderfromPitt said Pitt was his only P6 option, which does make a little bit of sense since he recruited Pitt. So if he had no P6 options last June, how in the world would he have any this May/June now that he's been charged with a pretty bad crime?

I dunno. I’m guessing many that are on the chopping block who may get one more year like it looked like Capel would get would possibly take the chance next year. Doesn’t mean they’re a better fit. Just may want a change.

You’re telling me if Josh Pastner was told he has one year or he’s fired wouldn’t take him now if he thought he was safe without him last year? That’s an example please don’t jump off the deep end again.

He has a baby or is about to. Perhaps the girl and baby live in Cleveland? Perhaps this is part of what's causing him to feel stressed or whatever. Lets cut him a little slack.
Completely agree. He’s one of ours and he’s obviously going through a tough time. I don’t understand the need to tear him down.

So if Wake Syracuse and NC State all just win 6 of the remaining game —none go-right?

Well there is that probation thing…

I hope John gets the competitive fire back for next season

But I’m not optimistic .
I think he’s done with college athletics
