up front, edging out Kentucky’s big bag of money that they wouldn’t pay until he arrived at campus.

I seem to recall a brilliant thread on this board wherein some posters opined that Dickinson, an All-American 7 footer, basically wasn’t good enough to play at Pitt because we have the twins and Fab Five Fede……🤡

BballinsiderfromPitt says he is making 200K. I'm going to say $2 million

Also me suggest that those posters may have been misguided?

Maybe another way to look at this is if you’re going to pay out the biggest NIL in history, is Hunter Dickinson worthy of being the guy? To me, while a nice player, he’s likely not worthy of such a distinction.
You have to be good enough to make a difference at one of the top programs from an NIL perspective, but not good enough to go pro.

Dickinson seems to fit that description perfectly, and I'm guessing he won't hold that distinction for long anyway.

If the coach covets a good big man he’s likely worth it - there’s obviously not many of them.

I guess to Bill Self, he is.

I wonder which one of you is the better judge of a player’s value to the Kansas basketball team?

Self probably had some crazy notion that a 7 footer with a strong post game and a capable deep shot might just be able to help a team that’s already loaded.

Come on now. A little aggressive in your response. I don’t believe I’ve ever come across as a ‘know it all’. I didn’t suggest that Dickenson isn’t good. The suggestion was that it was reasonable to wonder if he was worthy of the top $ amaount ever to this point. That’s it. Of course I’m not as well versed as Bill Self. But I never suggested that I was, nor would I.

It was a wise move by Dickinson if he wants a shot at the title. The Big Ten only wins titles during the regular season with the media.

I really don't think Dickinson fits Kansas's style very well. They are pretty much an up tempo team that likes to run. I think Dickinson is more of a half court player, that will not flourish in Kansas's transition game. Just my opinion, others may disagree.

Maybe, but they won a natty in 2021-22 with a true scoring/rebounding big man in McCormack. Got bounced in the second round last year without having a capable true big man. Dickinson runs the floor as well as McCormack, is bigger and has a far more polished offensive game. He is ambidextrous in the post and can shoot the 3, even though most of his scoring at Michigan was out of half-court sets.

Self obviously made Dickinson his top offseason roster priority. That should say something.
