Dennis Gates is a phenomenal head coach, and someone (sooner rather than later) is going to be lucky enough to hire him away from Cleveland State. I want Capel to succeed and would love to see BK return to his alma mater, but he would be my first call if we need a head coach. Just my opinion!

I am going to predict Boals. HL worked with him at OSU. He isn’t at the top of my list, but I think he’d do a good job and get us back to respectability.

Yes he does, plus he was a shooting guard in college. I’d sure like to think he’d have a couple on the roster if he was Pitt’s coach.
Yes, you would think so.
However, as we all know,
Capel was a pt. guard in
college. What he allowed
X to do here in a pt.guard
oriented offense that allowed
excessive dribbling, over
penetration, and off balance
shots makes me wonder
about that concept. Follow
that up with the fact that
with his current team he has
no true pg.

Good point

I’m bumping this thread because it appears Gates will be hired by Mizzou to be their next head coach. Funny thing is, the Tiger fanbase is NOT happy about it here in KC. Perhaps it’s because they were expecting a big name hire and not some unknown from little ole’ Cleveland State.

I wasn't a fan of Gates. I think he's an ok coach but doesn't move the needle. But for Missouri in the SEC, this is a horrible hire. He cannot possibly win enough in that league.

You may not be wrong, but what I find ironic is that a lot of them wanted Kim English, an alum that is now the head coach of George Mason.

You can make the argument that he knows better than most the challenges (and selling points) that Missouri possess, but there doesn’t seem to be much difference between either of them. Just my opinion, though.
