Well since it is an anonymous message board, I will admit I agree to it too.
He may be but in this case, he happens to be right.
Gee, he has only been covering and writing about sports in Pittsburgh for over 50 years. He is hardly "just another dork tweeting his opinion."
your adulation of the Pittsburgh media is somewhat bizarre.
I'd like to thank Smizik for providing such expert insight. I had no idea what happened to this program.
You think I adore him because I would not call him a dork? People who work in the media are just like everyone else, sometimes I agree with them ,and sometimes I do not. No need to personally attack someone just because you disagree with what they wrote or said.
Smizik is the guy who jumps on the pile after the runner is down, and then brags about the big tackle he had in the game.
Youtube removing the thumbs down count, people getting upset with the term "dork", payments for breaking the law....what'll we think of next....
Smizik is just pointing out the obvious. It's like agreeing when someone said it is raining when it is raining.
I tried to be nice about it, I didn't think dork was too insulting. But the litany of Smizik's takes I think warrants it. Let's start with not voting for Fitz and continue with saying Paterno was vindicated by having his 404 restored.
I'll go back and edit it to something not quite as harsh....
pretty sure smizik wasn't retired at the time and voted for the Heisman. Don't really feel like wasting time googling to verify it, but I'd feel pretty comfortable putting money down on it.
I seem to recall that Smize voted for White too.
He did. Both him and Cook were proud of the fact that they voted for the 4th or 5th best player on Oklahoma's team over Fitzgerald, because that showed that they weren't homers.
Just idiots.
I liked how he used to romanticize about baseball and say how nothing was better than an enjoyable evening at the ballpark all the while not criticizing his media brethren Bob Nutting on how bad the Pirates were during his fun nights out.
