I don’t know what he thinks he is doing

Gary2, did you notice the coaching staff's reaction when Hugely shot that three? My theory is he was told to not shoot any threes. He shot one anyway, missed of course. Was benched because he wasn't following the coaching staff. I'm sure you'll get your wise for Capel to be fired eventually but he was correct in trying to get this team to play more disciplined.
Agree Hugley should not be shooting threes. I have pointed that out in previous posts.

On a team where few score or even look to score and that was unable to get a decent pass into one of their two threats, I can understand a frustration three.

If the coach doesn’t like that, I have no problem with taking the player out and talking to him about it.

I don’t think anything in Hugley’s play to this point merited a rest of the game sitting. Just my opinion.

You may be right, I just saw an immediate reaction when he launched that shot. Our seats are right near the bench now.

My biggest issue / question with Femi is, why is he not trying to shoot the 3.

Femi was a good shooter from 3 in prep school, almost 40%.

Femi made 34% from 3 last year coming off a broken arm. He was consistently making 3's at the end of last year against ACC teams.

Femi is shooting 40% from 3 this year.

Femi's free throw issues have nothing to do with making open 3 point shots. He's barely looking to shoot the 3 and I cannot understand if this is because of Capel or because of something else. Shoot the ball already. Nate finally got the green light and look what happened last game.
Femi has made two threes this year. He's 2-5. That's 40%. Quit touting his percentage until he shoots more than 20 threes.

Playing reserve minutes as a covid freshmen on a final four contender is better than playing on a potential 0-20 ACC team I would imagine. Glad we don’t have him though. Playing the walk on is much better
The lack of local basketball talent is embarrassing. Morton wouldn’t move the needle here, but would obviously get more PT. Robby Carmody didn’t do anything at ND. Yes - I know he got injured, but he was going to be a bench player even if healthy. Gordon didn’t play at PS and transferred to Fordham.

Have there been any Pittsburgh area kids that have succeeded at the High D1 level over the last 3-4 years?

He did that last year and shot 33% for the entire year. If you combine his 3 point attempts last year with this year, he is 34.5% from 3.

Its not great, but it certainly is far better than Hugley shooting 14% from 3 or Jeffress shooting 0% from 3. Femi has actually proven over the course of a whole season he can make them. And for our teams sake, someone has to try and make them besides Nate.

Exactly 😂😂😂😂😂 the Vade Storm is simply amazing, the most delusional poster this board has ever seen “Femi is a rock solid shooter, he’s at 40% on FIVE ATTEMPTS! He also shoots a rock solid 45% from the STRIPE! THOSE numbers scream progression!”

If that was true then no one who sits on the bench at any successful program would ever transfer .

Maybe youd like a bunch of guys on your team that are happy mopping up a few minutes here and there ! I want guys who want to play .

Ah yes. That’s it. I’m sure Morton doesn’t wanna play. You nailed it.

THEYRE THE #6 TEAM IN THE NATION. They just sent an all conference player to the bench because they have another really good player at his position who is currently outplaying him. Do ya think maybe they have a really good culture there?

I suppose you don’t want Nolan Hickman on your team (last year’s #33 player and former Kentucky signee) because he plays backup minutes at Gonzaga? Do you understand how stupid your statement is?

No one wants to sit on the bench , do you know how stupid you sound in saying any competitor is happy playing a minuscule part on a winning team .

Guys transfer for a better opportunity to play not to sit on the bench .

They may find out they’re not talented enough to be a significant part of a winning team and then be satisfied to be a bit player , but no one who gets a D1 scholarship goes to a program to be a bench player .

Hopefully your not to stupid to comprehend this .

Ps ..Your total negativity towards Pitt bb and everyone and everything associated with the program from coaches on down to the players is just so predictable and boring . Do Panther fans a favor , go find something or another team that occasionally brings a smile to your face .

Lol. I didn’t say he wanted to sit on the bench. Back in the old days, we even used to have kids who were highly rated who are doing exactly what Morton is doing. It’s called paying your dues. It creates linkage from one team to the other. If he stays the course, he will most likely play a ton of meaningful basketball at purdue. If he takes the easy way out as you’re suggesting he should, he’ll quit the rest of his life like most of these kids who do that do. My guess knowing him he will stay the course.

also, I love Pitt basketball. I’m actually so insane I’m going to a wednesday night 9 PM before thanksgiving Pitt basketball game. I bet you aren’t. Just because I see the writing on the wall with this staff and I’m not ecstatic about the plethora of recruits we have committed and love this group of players because they simply aren’t good enough doesn’t diminish my love for Pitt or its basketball program. When there’s something positive to report or talk about, I’d love to be here. Unfortunately it’s been a very long time. I’m not gonna just go on a message board and sing kumbaya or spout out all these stats saying we’re actually good though.

I think the 800 or so of us who were there were insane.

In any season where we actually had a coach and a chance at getting to a 0.500 season or better, I would have been to the game. But not this year with this coach and this program and the probability of not even getting to double digits win totals. I don't want to see the embarrassments any longer, and it seems every game is an embarrassment. That's sad.

I'll probably see a few games this year just to be with my sons doing something together. But until Capel is gone, this program is dead.

The problem is Capel can't manage players. Watch. Hugley will be gone be the season is over. Capel is an immature baby surrounded by idiotic assistants. Barnes and Stallings started the runination of Pitt basketball and Capel is continuing the process.

Capel is horrible. Get him out ASAP. And take Heather Lyke with him.

No , I’m not going , the commute from Fl is a bitch . But I watched !

Sitting on the bench and paying your dues is a tradition that’s pretty much dead now a days . If your not an integral. member of the team in your second yr either a freshman or transfer is coming in to take your minutes . ( especially at a good program )

I don’t follow Purdue and if or when he realizes bb will never be his source of future income he should stay and focus on getting his education and playing whatever role that his coaches want . If he wants to play then there’s plenty of opportunities to play and get a fine education elsewhere.

There is nothing good to say about Pitt bb right now , but your aggressive negativity just wears me out .( even if your right )

I wish there was something positive to report on with this program. Anything at all. Recruiting. Players. Coaching. ANYTHING. But regrettably there isn't.

Yeah, I'd think around 1,000. And with there being basically zero students there 1,000 is actually more than I was expecting. That was probably the most non-student fans at a game so far this year.

Yea, I was actually surprised there was that many. I was thinking maybe 300-500 but there are more crazy people like us than we realize.

Xavier is way better than Femi. It’s very clear at this point. Femi will have to transfer down after this year.

It doesn’t matter what you see. It matter what the coach sees and hears. How do you know what he said to anyone on the court? You don’t.

Oddly, 2nd year Femi's stats on less talented team is similar to 4th year Xavier at this point.

I thought Xavier was going to be all-world in the B1G?
