......but I believe Davis Belville or maybe Patti will find the field to start some games next season. After this years film is gone over in the offseason the staff is going to have no other option but to dip their toe into the waters of thinking about what comes next. To say nothing about getting us thru next year & into the endzone.
I really believe they rolled the dice this year trying to give KP all their confidence & hoping that he would progress w/ seeing the field, recognizing mismatches, vulnerable defensive formations, etc.
The kid has a skillset but not the mind to really allow any game to slow down for him to the point where he feels totally in control of what he is trying to accomplish.
As I watch complete games & highlights of so many other programs & how their QB's work the field(teams from high level Power 5 conferences to much lesser schools) I get so disgusted w/ our total lack of effectiveness.
I know we drop entirely too many balls, the penalties, TO's, etc., but it really is all about the QB in todays football. Everything starts & stops w/ who is pulling the trigger.
When I read posts like KP is starting to come along it boggles the mind because how many times has any QB been given a blank check while running an offense as impotent as ours.
Our coaches call plays based on what they believe our QB is capable of & when they do give him the space to pick his receiver how many times does he throw short of the first down markers or choose to not go downfield.
It just seems like so much of KP's game(in his head) is decided before the play is even snapped. He does not seem to allow what he see's on the field as the play begins to impact what he will do w/ the ball.
Let's face it some kids have it where the game slows down for them & some do not. Lots of kids w/ the skill set but not all w/ the skill set & the mental ability to see the game as a single play is in progress.
Our D deserves better.. at the very least the chance to see how someone else can do !

P.S. I'm resigned to the fact that KP has no chance of being lifted this year for another QB. Let's hope that somehow the lights come on & he finds his comfort zone.
