I'm hoping Barnes pumps some $ and enthusiasm into basketball as well. This doesn't mean axing Dixon, but getting some top flight assistant coaches who can aide in coaching and recruiting in every corner needed.

That would be a welcome sight. It seems Jamie has taken the reigns off the offense, so there isn't a reason he can find a few great talents out there that can score and defend. He needs help. Question is, will he be open to doing just that?
This isn't football. The head coach runs the whole show. Nobody brings in assistants who "specialize" in anything but recruiting. If the problem is our head coach can't coach defense, we need a new head coach. But i don't buy the argument that JD can't coach D--that;s what this program was built on by Ben and carried forward by JD. I think he's trying to adjust to the new offense-friendly rules and trends, as well as the scoring league that we are now in And it isn't working. And he needs to abandon that and re-tool ASAP. We will need to more or less start from scratch personnel-wise. Guys like Artis, Jeter, Luther and even to some extent Young just don't have the mentality to play good defense. JROB tries but he;s not great and he gets no help. Young is the only guy that works to rebound, and that's not gonna cut it either. He's rebounding all by himself.

I agree partly. The GB/Dixon/Wanamaker/McGhee team was good defensively. So was the Adams team. Besides those groupings, the rest of his teams were either just OK defensively or plain bad.
