That may very well be true. And if it is, so what? Hollis was the guy who made Dooz one of the highest paid assistant coaches in college football a few years ago. He, Dantonio and Dooz are all friends, they did big things together at MSU.
Dantonio isn't going anywhere. If we see a rumor after the seaon that Narduzzi and Hollis are communicating, that may be cause for some concern on the part of Pitt fans. This isn't.

It would be silly for Hollis not to try to keep Nard interested. It doesn't mean he will jump when Dant steps down, but if I were Hollis, I would try to have feelers out. Dant isn't getting any younger, and has already had a heart attack.
Your AD just needs to make up his mind that he is going to pay what ever it takes when the time comes.

Administrators don't hire football assistants. The current academic and athletic administration is also benefiting greatly from decisions and moves made by the prior, and particularly, the new university administration was selected in part because of a similar philosophical approach to athletics. Don't get me wrong, a change in athletic administration was overdue.
I certainly don't know the people you do. Tickets sales and media reaction for Pitt's only other revenue sport, and its most successful sport over the last 15 years, are telling a completely different story than the people you know that "follow it." It could prove to be an amazingly ballzy and magnificent move. Only time will tell.
