And yes, I would give up Tyler Glasnow. And I wouldn't look back. Now they aren't getting Meadows and Glasnow, but I could part with Glasnow, Ramirez and Cole Tucker. And I wouldn't look back.

Chris Archer is that power arm, he finished 5th in AL Cy Young voting last year. He is 27 years old.

Tyler Glasnow showed that even next year he may not be fully ready. He may not be a positive WAR pitcher until 2018.

This core group of players the Pirates have has a time limit. Garrit Cole won't (can't) be resigned. Cutch will be traded, replaced by Meadows.

Archer is under contract control through 2022. If Tyler Glasnow is an all star by then, god bless him.

A Pirate rotation of Cole, Archer, Liriano, Taillon and whoever looks alot better. Plus the Pirates got alot of pitching depth.

Time to be bold. Glasnow maybe the future, but Archer is the present and also the future. You got to give to get.
Time to start looking to build a Pennant contending team, not just merely hoping for reclamation projects to get you to a Wild Card game.

Glasnow is a top 10 prospect. But he has some flaws, still really raw.
Ramirez is blocked by the outfield already in place, and Meadows.
Cole Tucker has Kevin Newman ahead of him at Shortstop.

Make the deal.

I'd offer them Tucker, Ramirez, Keller and Kuhl. They are the the 6th, 9th, 10th and 11th ranked prospects in the Pirates farm system. If that's not enough, then I'd pass. He's good, but Archer is a below .500 pitcher for his career...

Are u just throwing this out or is there a source that posted this?

with them trading their closer, i don't see them making a big move today. they decided that when they threw in the towel a few days ago.

i honestly don't believe the pirates are seriously in talk with tampa.

i'd rather have a new owner.

MLB Trade Rumors had mentioned last week that the Pirares were interested in Chris Archer. The Rays reportly want 4 prospects starting with Glasnow & Bell, or Glasnow and Meadows headlining the deal.

If players like McCutchen, Kang, Liriano were playing up to par, then I would make a major move. Right now, there is no sign of them snapping out of it...

It doesn't matter who is playing well at the moment or who is struggling. They are in striking distance. Teams that want to win, go for it. Teams that don't, make excuses. Nutting as a owner is not a plus...

Here's the thing with Archer.......it is not a trade for this year necessarily. It is for the next 5 years. Even Matt Moore, they would have control for the next 3-4 years.

I am not saying giving up prospects for a rent a player, I am saying get a viable MLB starting pitcher to bolster your rotation for now and the next few years. There will always be prospects.

I agree, but I'm not sure they'll get a better deal than the one I'm proposing. In my opinion, you offer Glasnow and Meadows for a guy like Chris Sales. For him, I'd give them those two, plus Ramierz, Tucker and Kuhl

Let's be real, NH hasn't traded a top 10 organizational prospect ever, he's not gonna start now.

Sorry I'm not willing to give that much up for Archer. He's okay but he's not a stud with that said I would be willing to move McCutcheon & a prospect to Tampa for Souza and Ordizzi

It's amazing to me that people still can't spell Andrew McCutchen's name right. The guy was the best or second best player here in the past 40 years.

If we trade Meadows for Matt moore I'm done being a fan for the year.

Archer I like sale I love, all the other names are blah. All the other names shouldn't sniff any of our top prospects.

After the MM debacle we need to stop trading

Sorry for that please no Nova maybe on Evoladi. Andrew was a top 5 player but not currently sell high.

You conveniently forgot to mention how Archer has fared this year. He has been hit hard nearly all season long -- an ERA of 4.42 and a WHIP of 1.35.Why brag about last year if you are going to pretend this year hasn't happened?

I even went back and reread your post a second time to see if you mentioned one word about Archer's performance this year.

If we got him for nothing ... fine, if we gave up any significant prospect then dumb trade

Matt moore went to the Giants for the Giants number 24 prospect Michael Santos.

Yeah. So....that was evident. But don't worry, we got Aldo Nova. Nutsack Ballwashers, fireworks are coming don't worry.

So we landed Nova and Bastardo, and got rid of Niese and Melancon. Blockbuster stuff right there.

As I mentioned earlier in the day, they decided to be sellers when they traded away their closer and decided to throw in the towel. Yet, some on here thought they were going after a decent pitcher. Nope. Pirates management only want to do things on their terms. That means they want big things at McDonald's value meal menu prices.

But what did they sell? What did they acquire?

Not fair dude... Yes Archer has struggled this year but he has great stuff with a super arm from what I've read. Happ was struggling last year as well before coming to the Bucs. I would have loved to have him, but at the right price. The Pirates were in a position of strength based on what he has done lately so I would not have offered Glasnow. I would have offered them the 6th, 9th, 10th and 11th prospects which I thought would have been fair..

My point on Archer over Sale, sure Sale is better, but Archer is yours for 5 more years. Sale is only under control for 2 more years.

NH hasn't traded a top 10 prospect in 8 years on the job, he wasn't starting today.

Oh yeah...he gave up a top 10 prospect! To trade Liriano. I couldn't make this up. We made a trade for a guy the Jays sent down to the minors for Liriano and a couple of prospects like Harold Ramirez.

I think the Pirates are eating retard sammiches again.

Jesus, I wish NH still didn't trade a top ten prospect. What a joke this guy is. Someone take the keys away from him.
