The Captain has provided us with proof of the power of Pitt script and the Majors era home uniform. If I was the new AD, I'd build a marketing campaign around it: Come see the most beautiful uniform in all of college football. It's absurd to think how Pitt has cast aside its most popular and enduring brand.

I agree that the throwback uni is great, but I wouldn't market around it specifically. That's setting Pitt up for failure because as soon as they lose one game with those unis we will have the usual dipsticks on here spouting off about how uniforms don't matter. Perhaps market the homecoming game itself featuring the throwbacks. Then, maybe have a throwback uni game against Miami and convince them to wear the orange throwbacks at Heinz. Take the delay of game penelty at the start like USC and UCLA did.

Good thing about this AD job at pitt, there is some "low hanging" fruit, not so hard projects and goals, short term stuff, that can be done here to really enthuse the pitt fanbase.. that's how low the bar has been set by our boy Pederson.

Regarding unis, I'd like to see the alternative hoops unis worked on. those shorts were pretty brutal.. no complaints about football alternatives. We need to get away from the "throwback" mindset, obviously the script is derived from past unis but that blue has never been seen before. And that's saying something, considering pitt football has used pretty much every shade of blue in existence.. It's almost "smurfish"..

I just posted the History and how it worked to create a big buzz in the 1970s at that time, but the PITT SCRIPT does stand out far better than UCLA, CAL, or Any Other as The Expert on Logo Marketing has stated and how Pederson was a Putz to change to Pittsburgh DinoCat and refused to acknowledge his mistakes like pouting child.

I am just glad it is Back and have no opinion on colors, or uniforms, and leave that up to Coach Pat!

However, since Pitt Script was picked by ESPN for the ACC and Campus Insider for Tops in College Football right now, the comments above on Marketing Those Accomplishment should be wide nationally by the Pitt Athletic Department. Some Posters and Fans should let them know and do at least a Press Release and AD Heather first words were about the Pitt Script when introduced, sounds like good timing, but up to Pitt not me.

.....I would trade in my 11 year old Chevy with 134,202 miles on it for something newer.

If I were the new AD, I would get a Division 1 hockey program started. It pains me that I actually like watching PSU hockey play. I'm jealous. Pitt deserves a Division 1 hockey program.

There is plenty of time to beg people to go to the football games, and soon to be empty basketball games.

If I were AD I would demolish the statuette of Franco sitting outside Heinz Field. I'd give it to Penn State.
I'm sure this will peak ones interest. Time to get that foul creatures effigy as far away from the home of the Panthers as is possible.
I'd ban him from Heinz Field. Tickets are a license, not a right.
Then I'd put a giant stature of the Johnny Majors there.

That's 18 full scholarships and an arena for a non-ACC niche sport
If any mens sport is added, it would be lax. 11.7 total scholarships, ACC sport, easier to accommodate in terms of facilities.

Johnny majors almost put this program into d1 -AA non scholarship level, no thanks. He benefitted from a 90 annual scholarship allotment thanks to a 4 team handshake agreement and left to go back to rocky top before the season was over.

Between a Franco statue, a majors one, I'd rather have a porta potty

So you just make things up and expect no one to call you out? "He benefitted from a 90 annual scholarship allotment thanks to a 4 team handshake agreement"

The 90 player limit was a NCAA rule. Pitt was hindered by the big 4 agreement - PSU had also violated parts of the agreement - Pitt backed out. There was nothing nefarious about it. Oh... and news flash... he still had to win the games and a lot of the key players on that '76 team were recruited after 1973 including the Sugar Bowl MVP.

"left to go back to rocky top before the season was over."

He left after the Sugar Bowl victory. That is *after* the season.

Penn State only got one because one man -- Terry Pegula -- ponied up $100 million to underwrite the program. I don't see Pitt having a equivalent.

You wanna talk about "low-hanging fruit"? No fruit is lower than re-building the Pitt wrestling program into one that would be a perennial Top Five program.

In Pittsburgh, we're surrounded by great high school wrestlers. All we need is the financial commitment to hire a solid, nationally recognized coach (with his hand-picked assistants, of course). The only thing stopping Pitt is Pitt.

Someone said something about her looking into a lacrosse program on a pitt fan page on Facebook. No link or any thing of substance but interesting if true.

He accepted the job before the NC game.

The first order of business for the new ad is to scrap the seating plan at the pete.

Plenty of great ideas to replace this disaster.....

IF I'm the ad.....I market a seat license as a chance to "buy low"

Maybe even tie in with a pitt football license

Anything........is better than the current system. .....which is awful due to the awful product on the floor.

Ha...but he did bring us a national championship.
Franco is a national chump.
A porta poopy is an essential.

Plus move recruiting 300 miles to the Eastern part of the state Nazareth, Bethlehem Catholic, Easton, Parkland, Freedom, Northhampton, Liberty all have been top in PA & the nation for years.
Start-up some youth camps like the Nitters have and PITT wrestling would be able to move forward quickly!

I just watched Penn St (ranked #2 in country and #1 lost this weekend) beat Ohio State in lacrosse. The announcers were talking about the nice lacrosse facility Penn St built and tOSU is building a 40 million $ lax facility. Lacrosse is not just a rich kid Ivy League sport anymore. B10 has many good team. Denver won NC two years ago. It is growing very fast. It will become a more important sport in the ACC

Well it gets on TV b/c of the lack of ESPN programing this time of year.
That may change w/ college soccer moving from fall to year-around (w/ a break b/w semesters), b/c soccer is way more popular if attendance numbers are any indication.
B/w soccer and college baseball/softball, I have a feeling we're going to see a lot less lax on ESPNU.
And to be honest, the gameplay has become slow and hitting is basically banned these days.
I'd definitely rather Pitt not start mens lax.

Why do so many fans assume that a D-1 hockey team at Pitt would thrive, yet the popularity of the pro football team in town is one of the most commonly cited headwinds to Pitt's success in football.

It's already pretty big in the ACC. They have some of the top programs in the nation.

If I were the PITT AD I'd make a hostile takeover offer / attempt of the UNC basketball program Roy and all! Tender offer or proxy fight either way!
Otherwise get out of town fast!

One Major Goal right now, Rebuild Pitt Football Program with Coach Pat Narduzzi First and Foremost, let Stallings work on Basketball in his Attitude too, no choice right now anyway.....let Heather help attract Sponsors, Boosters, and Work towards supporting Coach Pat Narduzzi rebuilding and then worry about Lacrosse and other sports!

All other Sports Programs are built off of Football & Basketball Revenues not Lacrosse Fields of Dreams!

I agree the flow of play has suffered because of the offence and defense specialization. I hate it when teams pull up on fast breaks to make substitutions. Final four this weekend: Towson, Ohio State, Denver and Maryland. A kid on tOSU from AL. The sport is growing college sport.

Point well taken, but apparently we don't have enough money to competitively spend for the sports that we have now. Adding another non-revenue producing sport wouldn't help matters at all.

Nothing against lax - or any other sport for that matter - but we should be taking better care of the sports that are now in existence.

There is a zero percent chance that Pitt is adding men's hockey anytime in the foreseeable future. If Pitt was to add a new sport, it would almost certainly have to be a women's sport because of Title IX considerations, and there is no chance that Pitt is adding a new men's sport without also adding at least one new women's sport.

I agree Pitt will not likely be adding Mens sports, but, particularly with ACCN, there will be pressure to change the mix of sports to what the market calls for.
