C'mon guys, give me some credit - I was bashed incessantly for 2 years after saying he would be a good hire for Pitt. When USC stunk in its 1st year or 2 I said he needed his own players. I was told good coaches could coach anyone's players. Now it seems most of you would be cool with him and so would I. And yes, after 1 crazy loss this season I did say I was wrong about Enfield but that was spur of the moment frustration.

No in all seriousness I would love to see him come to Pitt and bring some excitement back to Pitt basketball.

I saw the future - we need Andy Enfield at Pitt!!

If it is Enfield.... you're never allowed to bitch about the coach on Pantherlair again.

And you're forbidden from using CAPS-LOCK.

And exclamation points. You're not allowed anymore.

I last remember a mea culpa for being wrong on him.
14 conference wins in 3 years doesn't excite me...

But he's less awful than some of the other names out there.
I think.

He'll have a 3 year caps free window. If it is bad in the 4th year all bets are off:)

-Whether its Keatts or Enfield or someone else, I want Pitt to go to the promised land in college basketball. I dont need credit for anything regardless of who is hired, I want to watch Pitt win.

When you posted about Enfield, very few doubted that he was indeed a good coach.

What?? I was told by nearly everyone that him coaching here was ridiculous and he would not be good at Pitt. Then during his 1st year especially at USC it was brought to my attention over and over about his record and on and on.

I think you have a selective memory about that DT. Most people thought that 2 games in the NCAA did not prove at all that he was a good coach.

Good coach, maybe.
Better than Dixon (your claim) yet to be seen.
His first 3 seasons in p5 a bit underwhelming.
14 conference wins.... And to be honest, recruiting less than impressive for the location.

I think he has some 4-5 star guys coming in next season. Years 4 and 5 are the real test in my opinion anyways but hopefully looking at the names of coaches for Pitt I hope it's him coming here.

If you say so ...

-Enfield returns every player in the entire rotation and has a pair of Top 100 guards coming into the program for next season. He did a really good rebuild job at USC. That program is still trending up.

I don't know what DT said but my recollection was that you were given a hard time. However what I am not sure of - was it because you were calling for him to replace Dixon or just that ppl thought Enfield wasn't all that great. I'm not sure but do recall you getting grief about something regarding Enfield.

THANK YOU!!! AT LEAST SOMEONE REMEMBERS!!!!

I know so. mvk112 was 1 of the main guys. He kept at me for 2 years about him.

You do realized his team was outscored and outrebounded in conference play, right? Still hasn't had a winning record in conference. Gave up over 79 points per game in the Pac 12.

He recruits kids who can run and jump and his teams don't defend or rebound. That's not a recipe for success in the best conference in college hoops. But he probably is the best of a bad list. That's an indictment of the list, not a ringing endorsement of Andy Enfield.

I remember that you were one of the few who would at least name someone. Most others that wanted Dixon gone would not put forth any names, but said many would be better.

There were some that said no way Enfield better than Dixon. I thought that at that time, and not sure that he still is better than Jamie, but I hope that he will have a shot to prove me wrong and you right.

Of course, earlier this year you also claimed he sucked after he blew a huge lead. So there's that.

He turned around a bad USC team by year 3. The future looks bright for them and it's all because of Enfield. Dixon has taken Pitt down a decline the past 5 years. Give me the guy who is trending upwards. I like Andy.

I said it was a spur of the moment reaction but I have been sold on him for years now so that should have gotten me some Enfield cred...

Seems to be a common theme, no?

Though to be perfectly honest, he's the least "meh" out of the candidates we've been hearing so far.

Every coach they hired over the past 30 years has started where Enfield was and had them good in 3 years, then they were bad again within 3 years again. It's the same thing the past 30 years.

George Raveling took over a team winning about 10 games, improved quickly, got them up to a #2 seed with Harold Miner, and then within 3 years they were horrible again.

They hired someone who lasted a year and they were at about 10 wins again, got rid of him, brought in Henry Bibby, were bad for a couple years, then he improved them rapidly. They went to the Elite 8 in 2001, then within a few years they were winning 10 games again.

Tim Floyd comes in, and they improve almost immediately, and go to the Sweet 16. He's gone due to OJ Mayo, and Kevin O'Neill takes over and last a few years, bottoming out in his last full year at 6 wins. He was fired the next year in the midst of a 14 win season.

The team Enfield took over was no different from what Raveling, Bibby, or Floyd took over. They were able to recruit at first too, but over the long haul, UCLA & Arizona are too strong in the west for them to sustain. It's a cycle that has repeated itself for 30 years, I don't think this is really any different. To be honest, I think it took Enfield longer to turn it around than Raveling, Bibby, or Floyd, and the situation Enfield inherited wasn't any worse.

We get it, you don't like Enfield. Well if he comes here I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. He will be a good hire for Pitt.

I think he's the best of a bad list. I would expect faster pace, even worse defense, lesser rebounding, and a lack of fundamentals. I wouldn't expect to outcoach many teams in the ACC.
