Who was the #1 TE in the class, he'd be eligible for our bowl game next year if he enrolls in January, similar to Dontez Ford a few years ago. Not that that mattets really, just saying. Chris thinks he's pretty much a Pitt lock.

Depends on motivation behind transfer. If what he really wants is to be close to home--Syracuse is closer to Connecticut than is Pittsburgh. A day trip vs an overnight trip for family members to watch a Saturday FB game. But if it is only to make that trip doable without plane tickets?
That being said, I haven't heard anything about his motivation to transfer. His original recruitment was very flaky so it is hard to say what is motivating this change

He is actually from NJ. He went to private school in CT, though.
One of the main reasons for his transfer is to get closer to home. Depending from where in NJ, Cuse is also several hours away.
Plus Pitt and Cuse throw to the TEs. Some have assumed Cuse because he considered them before. But he wants to meet Narduzzi and staff, since Chryst is really the coach who recruited him before.
What were his problems at UCLA? Was it playing time, homesickness, classes? If he is as good as the 3 stars we have playing now, he would be a good get.
pitt chains, I think he was referring to next year.. If he comes here, he will be eligible for "next year's" bowl game, not this year's. Next year's bowl game, Scott will be a senior and Holtz will be making it rain with his nfl salary.. Transfer rules dictates you sit out 2 semesters (summer sessions don't count) so he will be ineligible for Spring '16 (now) and fall '16 semesters
Two semester rule. When he transfers, he will enroll at school in Jan of '16. Must sit out two semesters (summer doesn't count), Spring '16 Fall '16, eligible first semester following the 2. Spring '17. The "not counting summer" session as semester is BS...
Hmmm, I knew the rule but thank you that did clarify it more well. I think you're right about the summer session, that does seem to really mess things up.
Kid should have decided this in august.. Delaying this by a few weeks screwed him out of a year..
Yeah, crazy how much of a difference two weeks makes. To me, some of the transfer rules are pretty hardcore. On the other hand, some are too lenient. Just no middle ground.
Well UCLA coaches were publicly questioning his work ethic. Sounded like he went there and acted like a prima Madonna. The fact that they released him so quickly sounds like they weren't upset with him. However if he was homesick that could be a factor in his lack offl effort.
The Bowl game he would be eligible would be after the 2016 season. JP will be gone and Orndoff will be a senior.
Has to be nice to see this offense targeting our TEs in the passing game a lot....He's big and athletic and would fit very nicely into our offensive scheme.
Yes, I liked our offense under Chryst, but my only problem was not utilizing the TE's enough. Right now we have two very good ones. To me it's a toss up between Holtz, Kris Wilson, and Dorin Dickerson for best TE here the past 15 years or so.
