Can't you just ask Bruce Pearl or Nate Oats how much? Oats is only making $5 million/year, which will increase to $7.55 million by 2030. You mean, he doesn't jump to UNC for $10 million/year? UNC cant afford that? They need to stop dicking around. Its North Freaking Carolina.

Pearl's contract numbers are similar.

Their big money doesn’t want to invest in hoops. But maybe it’s just Hubie they won’t invest in. He’s come up empty handed going after plenty of players because they won’t invest. The UNC name and baby blues only go so far without the cash.

I have a very hard time believing they can't buy any coach in the country. I just can't believe that.

I don't buy it. They whiffed on Cade Tyson & they haven't really developed a big man. They recently picked up a commit from Caleb Wilson (rivals #5 that a lot of people thought was headed to UK)

It’s true. Trust me. Hubert doesn’t have the support of the big money donors.

There's no incentive for them to make a move to UNC. It's more pressure (a lot more) & they can accomplish everything at their current school that they could at UNC.

They will be a lot more appreciated where they are. Hubert Davis took a team to the title game 3 years ago. He won 29 games last year, won the ACC, and took a team to the Sweet 16. He's a part of the UNC family and already on the hot seat. Oats & Pearl have never even been to a title game. There's no incentive to step into that pressure cooker.

These guys all have egos. For $10 million/year, the chance to be the Head Coach at one of the biggest brands in all of American sport would be very difficult to pass up. I mean, yes, they can win a Natty where they are but North Carolina is North Carolina.

Is all the cash going to Belichick's plan anyway? Is UNC really willing to lose their hoops blue blood status? Shameful if so.

Bellichick is making $10 million/year for UNC to go 8-4 in football. A complete waste. Spend it on Pearl or Oates or maybe lure back Jay Wright and they win a natty

So if UNC offers one of those guys $7.5 million, what is to stop Auburn or Alabama $10 million. They both get an extra $25-35 million or so per year from TV money. SEC and Big10 teams have a lot more money to throw around compared to ACC and Big12.

I dont know if the Good Ole Boys can justify $10 million/year for basketball. And what's to stop UNC from going to $12 million-$15 million? UNC is College Basketball

I don't think they care. There's nothing that they can accomplish there that will get them Dean Smith or Roy Williams status. They already get more pub than Scheyer, Davis, Self, or Pope.

FWIW, I lived just outside of Knoxville when Bruce Pearl was hired at Tennessee. He was everywhere holding meet & greets, doing radio, etc promoting basketball when he was first hired. Like every fanbase, Vol fans had this inferiority complex that led them to constantly theorize that once Pearl was successful, he would bolt to a better job. He was very straight forward and told everyone his dream job was Iowa. Once the shit went down at Tennessee, he became a regular weekly guest hosting an hour of talk radio every week out of Nashville during his show cause penalty. I don't know if his feelings have changed, but back then he said he wanted to coach in the SEC and wouldn't consider any job outside the conference. He seems to be happy at Auburn. I'm sure he could have had the UK job last year if he wanted it.
