I'm going to say about JWF what I said about Luther last year

Before the season last year, I said Luther should play the max games and then take an injury so he can get a 5th year with the idea being that a 3rd Stallings year with the guys a year older might be able to make an NIT run. Turns out he did the injury thing as I recommended but he had Stockholm Syndrome and left when Stallings did.

As for JWF, he has really improved and is the perfect weapon to complement XJ and McGowens drives. Our guards live in the lane and put so much pressure on a defense that if you have a shooter like a JWF or a Parker Stewart, your team becomes really tough to defend.

I know fans are excited now and I am too but the ACC is impossible. Kane and Terrell are trying but they are lower mid-majors bigs at best. If we even had a Gary Mcghee or Dante Taylor, things would be different. So unfortunately, I still see 3-15. Which is why I would RS JWF so we can have him next year to go along with a hopefully Akok, Wahab, or a good GR TR big and maybe make an NCAAT run.

There’s a difference between being “out of the box” or hanging out in a whole different room.

On a different note, I really don't blame Luther, but man if we would have him, this team would be a real threat to be a real surprise. Because he is exactly what we need.
I loved Luther, but he did not look good at all the last two games in Maui against very good competition.

Yet better than what we got now? Hell yeah!!

JWF is a great fit on this team. Its ashame to see his senior year wasted. Next year this team is going to need a shooter and a big guy. I hope he pulls a Luther but sticks around.

And ya know, a staggeringly large number of my outside the room ideal have been used. I can't even keep track of them all.

Hopefully the 3 Freshman continue to develop, that we recruit a couple of athletic bigs, and grab maybe a grad transfer swingman who can shoot.

Even a guy like Sterling Smith or Micah Mason would be great on this team because X and McGowens create so many open looks.

"Hey Jared, you're playing really well and the needle is pointing up for you regarding a pro career. Unfortunately, we're not very good this year and we feel like you're being wasted. Would you mind sitting out your age 22 season so that you'll be around next year when we should get better? All you'd be losing out on is a year of a Euroleague salary, that's no big deal, right?"

I am not convinced any of the departed players (including Cam) would fit in any better than Stevenson.

This Pitt team needs a Hasahn French type PF, imo.

That's exactly what I was thinking watching French play. How can an A10 school get a dude like that

St Louis in a two year stretch got Goodwin, Gordon and French who were top 50, top 75 and top 150 players...couple that with landing Isabel as a grad transfer and that's largely why they're the A-10 favorites. As to the why they got all of those guys, maybe start by looking at Travis Ford...

You know i love Parker’s stroke, but I’m not sure he’d defend well enough (or ever could physically) for what Capel demands. Probably best for both sides that he walked. I still think he ends up a very high scoring, high % player. Oh, well. Really liking the guys that replaced them just like everyone else seems to be.

There's not a team in the country that doesn't need a great shooter . Combining that skill with a great defensive player you have yourself a one and done guy . JC would've found ways to use PS effectively , that's what good coaches do !

Did you just say that if Parker Stewart was a great defender, he'd have been a one and done? Kid can stroke the three, but he has lots of other holes to develop beyond his 'olay' defense. Lol.

A player whose 6'5" who has his stroke and range that plays great defense is a NBA player wheather his name is PS or not . PS doesn't have the quickness to play great defense .

Right, that's my point. I don't think he'd fit into Capel's system, especially not this year or likely next with a giant hole in the middle, with no one to protect the rim when guard's can't keep in front of their men.

Trust me, I really like PS in the right situation. Just don't think it would be here with the construction of this team and the way Capel appears to run his system.

They will play some zone this yr .

If I played Pitt this yr from what I've seen I pack my defense in to stop the penetration and say to JWF let's see you beat us . I'd rather have PS putting up those 3`s.

I am guessing the Grad Transfer market will be a little better option this year for Pitt if it is needed.

We all wanted grad transfers for the immediate help the last season or two but the reality is that most of the good grad transfers are going somewhere to win and get to the Tourney. They are not going to a team in middle of total rebuild.

If we show some promise and improvement throughout the season, Capel lands a couple top 100 kids, he can sell a grad transfer on being the missing piece to becoming a good team.

This is true. If we has a good class and hs an OK ACC season, Capel can at least sell this being an NCAAT team next year. Not that it will be, but he can sell that. Like how the heck did a 21 PPG guy from Drexel end up at SLU? They aren't even a guaranteed NCAAT team.

Capel and company will most likely bring in a shooter for next season whether it be by recruiting from the 2019 class or grad transfer. I agree that Kane is working his tail off and we need to recruit some good bigs. However, IMO Brown has potential to be good. Don't undersell the coaching that's presently going on. Both will be better next season. But it would be REAL nice to get a 4-5* big.
