The uniform roll-out was just a part of the overall re-branding of the University. The social media buildup yesterday was impressive to say the least. Getting old players to post pictures was fantastic. Also liking that they've taken the social media feeds and made them more consistent. Much easier to navigate and find what you want. The Pete is getting a makeover which serves the tradition well.

Even the band is getting attention. I'm not sure I've ever noticed everything get rolled over like this at another school. You guys can argue all you want about stripes on pants and colors. That's small stuff. For me, this was more of an important first step and as a whole, they got it right. I believe things will be a little fluid for a while but the dark blue helmets already appear to be a huge hit with players and recruits. Plus all of the merchandise has a consistent look and feel. It looks classy. I believe that's what they were trying to do and I'm good with that. One interesting note, women seem to love the color scheme. That's a big deal since women buy a lot of merchandise as gifts.

Be happy. We're heading the right direction.

barnes is good on selling / marketing, building up excitement. Now if he can just come close to delivering the product.. He needs to work on the back half of that equation.. A lot of sizzle with little steak..

Not disagreeing. But he's still pretty new and the brand needed a lot of work first. This will help the coaches with recruiting and give Pitt a very recognizable look. That matters a lot.

they either gave nike too much leeway on uniform design or they are just over thinking this.. Pitt fans arent' asking to re-invent the wheel here.. They can survey pitt fans on matters such as more busses after games, they should ask for some ideas on uniforms.. I cant imagine anyone WANTING these uniforms.. Some are OK with it but if you are gonna change it, make it something that fans want.. Is there one pitt fan on the planet that wanted the pants to actually be brighter and to get rid of the stripes? Seriously, did one pitt fan ever communicate that as a wish?

It boggles my mind that someone at Pitt saw this and thought to themselves, "WOW, pitt fans are gonna love this." I just cant imagine that happening..

Everything with the rebranding has been good, EXCEPT for the new football uniforms. They are terrible. It's amazing really how this happens repeatedly.

Patience is it's own reward.
