Huh? From "gone to Oregon State" to a denial to a complete shutdown of any coverage (and even here, on the message boards)?

Barnes is not in the power loop. He saw it. Perhaps he was just here to fire Jamie, and deflect heat from Chancellor and "Football Guys" running the money for sports these days. It kinda fits.

But still odd that not a peep from the school OR the media. If this was a coordinator, there would be daily stories and intense message board interest. Like him or not, or indifferent, an AD is an incredibly important position for the fans of any university sports program

Maybe there just was no truth to this although if the rumor was swirling as big as this board made it to be you would think there would be a comment. Maybe other than this same small sample on this board there was nothing to it.

What's happening right now is probably this:

Barnes wants Oregon State. Oregon State wants Barnes. Pitt would prefer to keep Barnes so they are working with Barnes ans Oregon State on the legalities of the deal (such as the buyout). What's taking so long could very well be disagreements on how much of the buyout Barnes and/or Oregon State will pay.
