Interesting tweet from David Hale

Team A ranked 8th in the preseason poll...Team B ranked 8,432...Team A moved up 5 spots. Team B moved up 8,414 spots... Why whine about a meaningless metric that has always worked this way? If the preseason rankings were reversed Pitt would be #3 and Penn State would get some more love than Pitt currently gets (more to do with conference than school) and be at around 12...so what?

He stole my content. This is what I've been saying. If CFP rankings came out today, PSU would be about #6 and we'd be #8 or 9

PSU would be closer to 3, and Pitt closer to 18.

That’s based on the playoff committee formula that Connelly has kind of cracked.

There are going to be some people really confused next week after both us and the nitters win this weekend, and they get ranked 3rd and we get ranked something like 13th.

Well, beating OSU is a great win so yea, they'll probably be #2. If we win, we'll probably be 8 or 9 in the CFP.

There are going to be some people really confused next week when we win and Penn State loses and yet they are still ranked higher than us.

Starting on Tuesday, all that matters is CFP rank. If we win and PSU loses, we will be somewhere between 7-9. PSU will be 1-3 spots behind us. Now, if you are talking about polls, you may be right. But those wont matter.

I’m talking about the college football playoff rankings.

Connelly has been putting it out every week the last few weeks. It’s a formula of various inputs that he has found ends up mirroring the college football playoff rankings, so it’s close to whatever inputs they are using.

That’s where he has the two teams in the college football playoff rankings.
