look down this list. basically, iowa, a state not known for producing the athletic types, is able to field a competitive team. pretty much every year. and the overwhelming # of kids, including contributors, are from iowa. let's also remember that iowa is a rasslin' state.
iowa population is just north of 3M.
western PA population is closer to 4M (counting erie, toona, etc).
so here's my question: how can a little wrestling state pull off a consistent program, recruiting locally, and we can can't, when we have a greater area to draw from?
and iowa doesn't have a secondary location to pull from. they can't go into south dakota or kansas. i'm sure they get some from chicago and st. louis. but we have access to philly, dc, and NY.
i don't get it.
