Or did Dixon miss on Bhullar too? I mean, a 7 footer in your back yard can't get a scholarship, even if he's a project! He seems to be doing just fine for New Mexico St! WTF

Yes. It's real. But had Dixon signed him you'd have seen posts that said why is he signing a project like this and you'd be asking if that post was real. Vicious cycle you see.

Bhullar scored 4 points with 1 rebound in 6 minutes today, and only played in 9 games all season. WTF indeed.

His older brother Sim was the better player ...

... and averaged 10PPG before declaring for the NBA last year. He's still in the developmental league. He first committed to Xavier before going to NMSU. Pitt looked at him long and hard, but didn't offer (but neither did anyone else really). He would have been better this year than any of our center options not named Mike Young. But the point is moot since he wouldn't have been around this year.

Tanveer Bhullar has much further to go as a player. Had Dixon recruited him, he would not have helped this year. He's not considered to have all that much upside (and not as much as Sim) but he is 7-3. But like I said, he still has a way to go.

Yes. It's you.

Sorry, but with that lead in, I couldn't resist.

Others have given detailed explanations.

Did Dixon pass on the older brother? He would have been worth it, he averaged a double double and is 7-5. But when he was a freshman we would have had Adams at that time.

Re: His older brother Sim was the better player ...

Sim didn't qualify at Xavier. Eventually qualified at NMSU. Given that Xavier admits partial qualifiers, he would not have been admitted here.

No it isn't real...You just took the time and interest to not only read it but to reply to it! What an idiot... secondly, that size would've been a welcomed addition to this putrid defense...whether he was a project or not..he was better than anyone else that stood over 6"8 on this current team! Stop being short sighted..

No, as always, u r right

in fact anyone w/ even a remote connection to the area that you happen to see on TV playing well for another team
and strikes your fancy was, by definition, a huge Pitt miss.

The only exceptions are Jeter, Luther and Johnson.

Everyone else, though, was incredibly obvious--especially to you, b/c you really, really get it.

Hurry and get back to your TV and find yet another example of your prescience and JD's incredible blind spot

And we have people consistently complaining about Luther being on the roster.

Lol, I'm the idiot? You are the one that is wondering why Pitt didn't offer a guy who went to New Mexico State and averaged .6 points per game and couldn't get on the court for a team in the WAC, which is one of the worst conferences in the country at this point.

Maybe you should reevaluate who the idiot is.

Weirdly though, Dixon seems to like these enormous (in terms of size) project centers. Gary McGhee, that 6'10" behemoth a few years ago that signed elsewhere (named Maurice or Mo something?). Malcolm Gilbert, even Aaron Gray. Weird that he wouldn't even try with one that's 7'5"

Re: His older brother Sim was the better player ...

You are thinking of Mo Walker from Canada. he ended up at Minnesota, totally remade his body, he looks like an even more muscular Ty Biggs now. The transformation was nothing short of remarkable, because he was a real fatty out of high school.

Re: His older brother Sim was the better player ...

I guess it goes back to the old adage that you can't teach height. Not that he's going to recruit just anyone 6'10" or taller but I guess if you identify any kind of skill set those are the guys you take more risks on. Clearly it's been hit and miss but I doubt Pitt/Dixon has been alone in that regard.

They were very, very interested in Sim ...

.... (even though it was much to the dismay of many posters). But my understanding is that they WOULD have taken Sim.

But as Harve said, the reason they did not offer was because of qualifier issues. Notice that BOTH Bhullar brothers went the NMSU, where they could qualify.

My understanding is that both brothers are smart enough kids, but there were some just issues getting them in and elgible (which wouldn't have happened at most schools, including Pitt). Only Xavier and NMSU and Xavier actually offered Sim. Only NMSU offered is brother.

As a point of reference, please remember that Herb Pope has all kinds of qualifier issues, and he too first went to NMSU.

Speaking of 7 foot tall prospects. I'm still annoyed that Gilbert flamed out and Christmas turned into a stud at Syracuse. If I recall, they were teammates and had remarkably similar stats in HS.

The stats were not overwhelming for either Christmas or Gilbert. Supposedly their coach believed the guards should be the scorers, not the bigs.

But, it was always obvious that Christmas was the better prospect.
