Isnt it usually 3:30?
2:30 PM, ET
Ask Jesus.Ok, but just curious, why? I always thought their games started at 3:30. I may leave for the game early morning and it gives me 1 less hour
ND games are usually at 3:30pm est but for the first time in my memory they are doing two 2:30pm est starts this year including Pitt. No one really said why the change has occurred, but many think it was so the game does not start and end at the same time as other games so that more people would hopefully tune in for the second half of the game while the other games that start at 3:30pm est are at halftime. There home games have been at 2:30pm Eastern Time, for like, well EVER.
As someone said -- why is this even a thread???????????????????

This. Why? Because like every other big school in the country they play when the television people tell them to play. And apparently NBC said 2:30.
Channel 11 requested it so the game would not run over and preempt the Jerome Bettis Show.
gee, if there were only some form of technology available to provide that answer to you...maybe some day.Isnt it usually 3:30?

uh, ya, ok...that silly "all times eastern"( post google "pitt vs notre dame" search) stipulation throws me off too in its complexity. Like, Eastern what? Like Europe? East Dakota? ...good thing the folks on the lair were there for you.Yea I checked all that. I wanted to see if it was correct because I never remember ND having a 2:30 kick. I remember one year I was out there and it was a 2:30 local time kick but 3:30 back here because of some crazy thing they did with daylight savings.
No. Completely false.
ND started playing 2:30 games later in the season (as oppose to 3:30) because they found it was safer to end the game & get people on the road before dark.
Early in the season 3:30 accomplishes that. But later in the year they moved the games up an hour to beat the sunset.
This is well documented.
personally, I think it a great kickoff time. What a classic BS Notre Dame response. They play the game at 2:30 to get a jump on the 3:30 games, particularly when it is not a marquee matchup. NBC chooses the game time.

It was one of the very few games I didn’t dvr, expecting it to be unwatchable. I may do this too. 2 times only when I went into a pitt football game with 0% chance of a win. Clemson and wvu in ‘07.I'm going to follow the same strategy I had for the Clemson game. Not watch. I did other things that day and wandered into the house, no joke, flicked on the tv during the possession for the game winning FG. I was astonished. I hope it works again tomorrow
Was wondering if South Bend was eastern or central time zone... and I see it's just barely eastern, looks to be a stone's throw away from central.
Side note, all this time I didn't even realize until recently that all of Alabama, most of Tennessee and even part of Western Florida is central time zone.

Yeah people don't realize, Pensacola Florida is on the same latitude line as Chicago, while Pittsburgh is on the same latitude line as Miami.
This is not even close to the truth. 4 home games last year at 3:30 Eastern time, 0 at 2:30. 2016, 5 home games at 3:30, 0 at 2:30.Their home games have always kicked off at 2:30 pm EST since NBC started airing them. SMH
I wonder if that makes a big impact on Middle School and HS scheduling of sports in those areas.I know that time question has been answered, but it’s a little funky for us since the game is in South Bend (EST) while we’re staying in Valpo (CST). Never had that happen before.

Sounds like it does, but most of them are probably used to it by now.I wonder if that makes a big impact on Middle School and HS scheduling of sports in those areas.
