We don't even have a stadium and you are seriously wondering if Pitt would go 'all in' with NIL?
Neither does Miami.

tru dat!Well “we” is the fanbase and we’re pretty cheap so probably not.
If we went all in, where do you think the money would come from? It’s easy to say “go all in”, but since we’ve always been on the lower side of donations and have a fairly low attendance, where is the money coming from?Your definition of "all in" is that of a fan who is happy with 8-4.
My definition of "all in" is a much higher bar.
As much as fans want to rip the program, it is a sleeping giant IF THEY GO ALL IN.
They are nowhere near that level of commitment. There is no evidence (financially to be specific) to suggest otherwise and as such will never be much more than we are at this moment.
That juat shows where we could be if both hoops and fb are good at the same time. Missing alot of revenue I'm hoops 8 years runningBut you’re missing the point - it’s about having revenue and donations to increase the war chest to invest and improve .
Kentucky $52.7m for their men’s athletics compared to Pitt’s $45m
Why ?
Because Kentucky generates $6mil more in revenue for men’s sports than pitt
For as mediocre at best Kentucky football is ?
They only earn $4.5mil less revenue than pitt football
Most true college town donors donate no matter what. They don't wait until all the stars align before they depart with a 5 dollar bill like us.That juat shows where we could be if both hoops and fb are good at the same time. Missing alot of revenue I'm hoops 8 years running
i was referring to gate revenue and associated sales from hoops. not the donor base. Most true college town donors donate no matter what. They don't wait until all the stars align before they depart with a 5 dollar bill like us.
Right. But take into consideration the additional revenue from the SEC TV contract and the fact that there are no professional sports teams to compete with and Pitt is actually doing pretty well. UK is the Steelers, Pirates (well maybe not the Pirates, they have a minor league baseball team too), Penguins and Pitt all rolled into one. I'm not sure UK is a good comparison. But you’re missing the point - it’s about having revenue and donations to increase the war chest to invest and improve .

But those are the peers we are competing with. And I'm sure pretty much every p5 school is more like Kentucky than Pitt.Right. I don't know, you're probably right. I'm thinking Miami, GA Tech, UCLA and those types of schools would be comparable. They also have to compete with pro teams for entertainment dollars. But those are the peers we are competing with. And I'm sure pretty much every p5 school is more like Kentucky than Pitt.

And it’s closer to $5mil in revenue above expenses , honestlyGood. I honestly don’t give a rats ass, and I wouldn’t want success by spending millions of dollars on individual players. We are a program that clears about 5-8 mil a year.
If you can’t see what is coming… ie ticket prices through the roof, constant transferring, it’s all stupid. Great for the “student” athlete, shitty for everyone else
