Is there any reason why Hamlin shouldn't start now?

The redshirt is burned. He didn't look good in the few plays he was in but neither did anyone else. Yes, he's going to give up big plays due to inexperience but so does everyone else. As a fan, it would be very encouraging to see him starting. Getting him a lot of PT and seeing some improvement gives us SOME hope that maybe one day Narduzzi's defense will be able to defend the pass.

But, I didn't like Narduzzi's comments regarding Hamlin, that he was their 4th CB 2 weeks in a row and his PT on Thursday was mostly due to injury. I hope his RS is not completely blown by playing 5-6 snaps per game.

No - he must start now. He is one piece to Pitt's future defense that must improve quickly because the ACC is an offensive league that is gonna get better in the years to come. Hamlin needs to get as many reps as possible over the next (hopefully with a bowl) five games. With this experience and a off season in the weight room he will be a major player moving forward.

Maybe it was the angle on TV, but when he came into the game he looked smaller than Maddox. He needs to eat a sandwich. Also, I thought I saw Maddox with a helmet on maybe he is ready to play?

I'm not sure it would be good for the young man's confidence to start him on the road against Miami nor the following week at Clemson, YIKES!

Needs to be involved to at least get some experience for next year. Looked a little lost Thursday but it was his first game action, willing to cut him a little slack.

At the very least he should split time with Maddox. With the amount of times our secondary is seeing action they could use the extra man to avoid getting gassed as they did at OK St.

If Maddox is back, maybe Hamlin could replace Webb. I know, different position, but he has to be better than Webb has been this season.

Since you hate everything about Pitt, your opinion is worht nothing. You only want him to be humiliated so you have one more thing to make a jerk out of yourself about. Go follow Alabama. You want to win. Get out. You don't have a clue. and you owe Pitt girl an apology because you are just trying to abuse her because a girl humiliated you. Big mn on the key board. little loser in life.

This is a criticism? You want to win? You want someone who wants to win to get out? This is very bizarre.

Agree completely . Webb needs to be limited to special teams. it's time to play Hamlin full-time.

If the redshirt is burned then he should definitely play significantly. I remember freshman Dorian Johnson getting destroyed by Attachou from Georgia Tech but that experience certainly helped him grow up quicker.

This just in people....
I do believe that Pat Narduzzi knows his team and its situation far better then the rest of us, that is why he is the Head Coach and we are the fans. I am quite sure that he was aware that his decision to play Hamlin would result in Hamlin losing his "redshirt" for this year.
Trust the man and his decision making process. Is he going to be correct every time? Absolutely not, but I do believe that he truly cares about the Pitt football program and wants it to become a national power.
Did he really want to play Hamlin Thursday night...probably not, but injuries and the game situation dictated that it was time for Hamlin to step onto the field and show us what he can do.
Hamlin is not Superman and to think that he is just going to out on the and play like Darrelle Revis is just not realistic. The young man is an athlete and will be fine once he gets some actual time playing in Narduzzi's system. As far as I'm concerned, unless Hamlin totally sucks out there, he has now become one of Pitt's starting CB's and should be on the field as much as possible.
The Pitt football program is in good hands under the leadership of a man like Pat Narduzzi.

Not playing him major minutes after burning his red shirt will be better for his confidence...how?

If Hamlin isn't playing significant minutes for the remainder of the year, then blowing his redshirt at this point was plain dumb.

Cruzer

If he gives us the best chance of winning, yes. If not, no. Pretty simple at this point with the redshirt burned.

Stop worrying about redshirts. Win games. We threw away 3 victories by our coach's refusal to adjust scheme and a worry about burning redshirts. Very unsettling.

Hamlin looks like a high school kid playing against big-time college players. He's very small. I don't think you start him, but you work him into the lineup in spot situations. You need to put him in position to succeed and that is not lining him up against one of the top two receivers right now.

Of course there is a major reason... If he isn't the best we have he shouldn't start. We are trying to make the post season!!!

What is wrong with some on you? Should he play more? Yeah. Should he start? Only if he is clearly better

Since most people on this board think Hamlin is likely the second coming of Revis, why the hell does anyone care about burning his redshirt? Burning his redshirt means he won't have the opportunity for a fifth year.If he turns out to be really good, he won't even come back for his fourth year (as Boyd didn't, and Whitehead won't).

I think he should start but I wouldn't be unhappy if he doesn't either. I don't think it will happen if he isn't ready. If he performs poorly then it would look like nardiuzzi gave up the season

Didn't look very good in a small sample size. But he was not worse than what we've seen so burned redshirt... let the kid play.

after watching the game again it seemed like he got his feet under him after some game reps....which is encouraging.....we'll see where this goes

boneheads, Mitchell needs to be starting free with Whitehead at strong (they play great together & Whitehead's a better player with Mitchell) only reason why Webb is still on field is bcuzz Duzzi wants Wade POINT BLANK!! Hamlin has alot & I mean ALOT to learn (looked terrible)
Please give input!!

That ridiculous to say. Absolutely ridiculous
Why? Because all of it was the exact truth? He didn't look comfortable the couple plays he was in, he clearly wasn't any worse than what we've been seeing though, and his redshirt is burnt. Not starting him would be absolutely ridiculous.
