Active today for the Bills today and just got the ball on a jet sweep.

He's a useful symbol of what's wrong with the college football system. He preferred to go to a blue blood to never play rather than a program like ours where he could possibly elevate the team.

So while we shouldn't necessarily hate him personally (vs hating the system that allows that), we as Pitt supporters should be dismayed at such guys getting to the NFL. Such players should fear ramifications for these choices.

The ideal would have been to note this guy chose the blue blood, disappeared into obscurity, never made it, while Tyler Boyd made the "right" choice.

Can't do that now.

So, too bad he's there.

Yeah when they cut Coleman it was pretty much a lock he’d make the team.

I think he will run into the same issues he had at Alabama, great in practice and looks like he should be good, just unable to produce on the field.

Good for him though, he’s earned his shot.

Why to people keep repeating the “never played” thing. He was a starter for basically 3 years when healthy and was on the field constantly. Just because he didn’t put any numbers doesn’t mean he wasn’t on the field nearly every snap.

People who care about Pitt success say this. It's not in our best interest for him to look good. It's nothing personal.

You're dismayed that a local kid worked hard, overcame multiple serious injuries and now has an opportunity to live his dream at the highest level? You think we shouldn't "necessarily hate him"? Wow, that's big of you.

This post is absolutely delusional. Both Boyd and Foster made the "right choice" because both are in the NFL. There's no guarantee that Foster would have made any more of an impact had he chosen Pitt. Injuries held him back more than any other factor at Alabama. Personally, I'm happy for him, even if I was disappointed when he didn't choose Pitt. I'm not petty and you shouldn't be either. It's an ugly look.

I guess his dad is the devil and Tyler Boyd laughs at them.....or so I've heard here.

NANANA.....he's not really in the NFL...I'm holding my ears like a little kid...

It is pathetic that the 5th and 6th WRs on teams like this would be the #1 WRs on other halfway decent P5 programs. I mean heck, Jalen Hurts wins a NC, loses his job and transfers. Dude at Ohio State loses QB battle so he transfers and wins the job at LS freaking U!

85 scholarships is 10-15 too many. No reason for these guys to sit on their @ss for 4-5 years.

Foster would have been #1 WR and 1000 yard WR for multiple years. Please.

Cmon man I know you actually watch the games, please tell me you’re not buying into the Robert Foster didn’t see playing time at Alabama myth?

He was a starting WR at Alabama.

It all worked out for him. It must be a dream come true to have the ball in your hands in an NFL game. It sucks he didn't choose Pitt because he would've impacted us more than he did Bama but he still made it to the NFL and he has a couple of rings he never would've had with us and his family got a nice envelope of cash. He made the best decision. Congrats.

Im not just talking about him

good for him. I haven't lived in Pgh for 25 years, but still hope "local" kids make it.
While western pa football is no longer in the jim Kelly, dan marino, gus feureotte, tom clements, john frank era... and pa is no longer at the top, it still produces more than its fair share of div 1 and NFL talent... it is not all that long ago that Woodland Hills was the high school that had the most current NFL players.
FYI, I am pretty sure PA IS the top producer of Div 1 field hockey players. LOL
that is no shot at anyone who has girls who play field hockey

It's amazing that there are monthly threads dedicated to adults trashing a local kid who decided to go play at the best football program in the country. Even more amazing is that these threads are allowed to exist every single time. Grown men acting like a bunch of jilted high school ex-girlfriends.

Whatever path he happened to take he’s now in the place he wanted to be.

None of that really matters anymore, whether he sticks or not is entirely up to him.

I don’t get the hatred for the kid. He chose the school he thought was. Eat for him. While his career didn’t pan out like most thought I’m sure he had great experiences at Bama. He’s now on an NFL team. Not many kids achieve at the level he has

He didn’t choose Pitt. Pitt is not for everyone. Maybe if Pitt fans supported the program as much as they want local kids to support the program more local kids would go to Pitt

So, another thread on how we need to change the rules to help Pitt (at the expense of a guy who won a couple of championships and is now in the NFL) instead of just getting better?

Some people are pathetic. Good for Foster for getting into an NFL game. The vast majority of guys don't make it. I hope he is able to stick around for a bit.

He made it to the NFL and has a $1.7 million contract (not guaranteed of course.) That should dispel the idea that he made a big career mistake going to Alabama. We simply are not going to land very many 5 star recruits, even locally, though it hurts when it's someone in WPIAL for sure.

Lot of parochial goofs here. Foster went to a place where they win NC's on a regular basis instead of going to Pitt...and that seems to be something that bothers them on a personal level.

This scouting report from NFL.com is spot on

“Size and speed prospect with sudden feet to uncover underneath and the burst to get open vertically, but a poor feel for the position. Foster is a much better athlete than receiver and was unable to find snaps until this season because he was behind better football players. He's expected to workout well and may find a spot at the back of a roster or on a practice squad early in his career, but he appears to lack the football instincts and playmaking consistency to stick long-term . . .

  • Drifts towards coverage out of route stems
  • Football instincts are below average
  • Converts on a low percentage of opportunities relative to his position
  • Gives away pattern breaks down the field allowing for easier coverage
  • Falters in his stack and track on deep throws
  • Fumbled three times on 37 touches over last two seasons“

Except the part about being able to find snaps because he was behind better players. That’s an absolute falsehood as when he was healthy he was a starter and on the field almost all the time since his sophomore season. I am dumbfounded that people still stick to the Foster rarely played myth.

It seems hard to believe a guy with all those faults is playing in the NFL.

I agree with the first bullet point though, when you’d see him on replays it almost seemed like he wasn’t trying to get open.
