…here’s a scorecard. With waaaay too much time on my hands yesterday I took a snapshot of the Rivals database for all 226 recruits with a Pitt offer and noted the following breakdowns per position:

5 - 3* (PA-Phil, CN-2, GA-2)

12 - 3* (PA-Pgh, NC, IL, MI, NJ-3, FL-3, GA, VA)
2 - NR (MD, NJ)

ATH
15 offered and 4 committed
Of the uncommitted:
2 - 4* (NJ, MD)

Of the uncommitted:

Of the uncommitted:
2 - 5* (NC, NJ)
1 - 4* (MD)
8 - 3* (TX, NC, OH, VA, PA-Pgh, PA-Hbg, FL-2)
1 - 2* (FL)

DE
26 offered and 10 committed
Of the uncommitted:
3 - 4* (NJ, PA-Phil, MI)
8 - 3* (NC-Gilbert, FL-3, PA-Phil (2), NJ-2)
1 - 2* (NJ)
4 - NR (OH, IL, VA, PA-Phil)

LB
25 offered and 11 committed
Of the uncommitted:
7 - 4* (MD-2, FL, CN, OH, CA, DC)
5 - 3* (PA-Hawley, GA, VA, NY, FL)
2 - 2* (FL-2)

DB
39 offered and 20 committed (Includes Butler)
Of the uncommitted:
7 - 4* (PA-Pgh, TN, FL-2, MD, VA, GA)
8 - 3* (PA-Pgh, PA-Hermitage, TN, MD, TX, FL-2, CA)
3 - 2* (NY, NJ, FL)
1 - NR (PA-Pgh)

I realize that recruits often change positions but strictly based on the above information, here are some random thoughts.

- Of the 28 uncommitted FL recruits (across all positions), 21 are 3* or 4*. So we are going after some very good recruits.

- Only a handful of OL recruits remain available in border states.

- Unless Sanders flips, our only chance for a RB might be Shaw (and he is more of a FB).

- If we are to get a TE it looks like it will have to come from out East or down South.

- With Boyd likely gone after this year, if we miss on Matthews, our WR prospects aren’t real strong.

- Our chances of getting a good ATH are strong with 2 from Pgh (Hudson & Pugh) and 7 others are from border states.

- It’s a good thing we got MacVittie because nothing else is likely.

- DBs are a plenty.

- There are still a lot of DT’s and DE’s in play. However, after Gilbert, Wheeler and Long how many are real possibilities.

- Still a boatload of LB’s available too, and that is with Pugh classified as an ATH.
