UConn is a case study in how to ruin an athletic program. Had they ponied up and kept Edsall or just hired a good coach and not Paul Pasqualoni after they won the Big East, they probably keep winning to a degree and would be heading to the Big 12 with Cincy, Houston, and either BYU/UCF. CT is a great market with 3.6 million people and the state essentially borders NYC. But instead the football program went full Majors 2, even worse so they decided that it was dead and wasnt worth fixing so they went Independent to go back to the Big East, a move I totally disagreed with at the time as the American with Cincy, Houston, Memphis, Wichita, etc was sufficient and offered football. They also needed to grow football in the hopes of getting an ACC invite. Teams are going to leave the ACC eventually. If they became Cincinnati, they would have been very attractive to the ACC. Heck, they almost got in over us.
