The kids smart enough not to burn his bridges . If the elite programs go in other directions he needs a fallback . You don’t turn down Adriana Lima to go out with the girl next door !

Still guess he gone with Pitt in pocket as fall back. Maybe <10%?

I've never seen a kid decommit and then recommit and he wont be the 1st. I keep saying it was so odd that he committed as a Top 30ish player who could have gone almost anywhere and then decommitted just a few months later for seemingly no reason. I could see if he saw a huge rise in his offers or something but a Top 30 sophomore was always going to have blue blood level offers.

I actually think he felt he was missing out on the whole "recruiting" experience. Oddly enough, who would have predicted he would still miss out on all of that due to Covid. Tis what it tis my grandmother used to say. He comes...great! Excellent building block. He doesn't.....meh probably won't be the difference between us winning or not winning an NCAA tournament so.....

You don't decommit from Pitt then pass up on Kentucky, Kansas, etc. to come back

Correct but he was always going to have those opportunities so I don't understand why he committed in the first place. This isnt the case of a kid committing then "blowing up." He was Top 30 when he committed

Having them show interest is one thing , but has anyone given him a firm offer ?

Are there other players on those rosters or players they’re currently recruiting who would limit his PT ?

It’s not over until it’s over .

Is the general consensus that we (the program) would welcome him back if the blue bloods pass and he wants to re-commit?

I mean if they are in frequent contact than yes. If PITT can be a bubble team or make the field, I think that will go a long way in showing kids that a turn around is happening. Maybe he felt initially pressured by family, they are letting him check things out, but in the end hopefully his families wisdom sways him back to PITT. Or, maybe he does want to make sure Capel stays long-term.

Unless the kid was a complete dick they’d be beyond stupid not to take him. It’s the same as the football board where some don’t want transfers like Devonshire who didn’t go to Pitt originally. Neither Capel nor Narduzzi are in any position to thumb their noses at any kid that they think can help their programs.

Maybe he just wants to make sure Capel is the HC if he decides to attend Pitt.
Probably that, realizing there’s no reason to rush the decision, and if there’s a chance he ends up really liking another school rather have his options open than have Pitt banking on him for 2 years only to not show up at the last second.

I think there’s still a really good chance he comes to Pitt. And a verbal commitment that early means absolutely nothing so I’m not sure why some people panicked. I mean what exactly do we have to show from Pryor committing as a sophomore in HS?

Not being placed on probation....
