Wow! I think the guy can pass a little bit. As well as do other things - like score and rebound. The D is improving, too. But the passing is spectacular; at times almost breathtaking.

I also like the way he offensive rebounded from the top of the key vs. the SU zone. With 'Cuse defenders in the zone having no specific man assigned to box out, Jamel took advantage several times and crashed in and around the confused Orange from out front.

Also loved the adjustment in the second half with "Pogo" Jeter assigned to prowl the baseline from short corner to short corner. Looked to me like the Orange we're extending their back 3 in the 2 - 3 zone further away from the baseline than normal. That deployment appeared to cause Pitt some problems in the 1st half because it appeared to congest the FT line area. But in the second half late Jeter and company destroyed the SU zone in the 14 - 2 run down the stretch. Sheldon has some very serious hops, of course. He can elevate very quickly straight up from underneath; like he's on a pogo stick. And when he's in full flight on the break: look out below! What a beautiful pass Artis threw to him as a trailer for a thunderous dunk late in the game.

Also liked the way the Pitt D stepped up late. The Pitt guys really moved their feet and stayed in front of the SU guys, something they didn't always do as well earlier in the game. The anticipation looked much better down the stretch, too. SU is not deep and had several guys play a lot of minutes. Maybe Pitt's depth and numbers of quality players had a big effect on wearing them down late in the game too?

Lot of fun tonight. Very nice win and way to start ACC play.

He is looking very much like Lamar Patterson out there.

He hit that three mid second half and boy the spin on that ball was beautiful, very tight.

I knew he was going to close out big time after that.

Yes, a Lamar Patterson clone on the rise.

Very close to a triple double. In fact on the post game radio show interview with Jamel, he thought he actually did have a triple double. The official stats had him with 8 assists and 9 rebounds.

In the pre-game show on The Fan with Zeise, Fillipponi and Page, didn't Fillipponi say that Artis hasn't done well recently against quality teams and that he won't match up well against SU? He seemed to match up very well against them last night!! It was a lot of fun to watch.

If Jamel played like this against Purdue we win that game. Let's hope he keeps it up.

I thought this adjustment by Dixon was the key to the game. Artis looked jammed in the middle and Syracuse left the baseline open for Young and Maia but then quickly doubled them when they got the ball. Moving Artis to the perimeter, Young to the middle and having the quicker Jeter on the baseline opened things up a little. And moving their back 3 away from the baseline really hurt their rebounding.

Yep. We saw the same things. The back 3 on the SU zone playing out further from the baseline was real apparent to me because my seats are behind the Pitt bench so the Orange D was playing right in front of me in the 2nd half. It was a good perspective to see how they deployed their zone and also to get a good look at how Pitt attacked it.
