* The loss at Louisville looked similar to the road loss at Syracuse. Get behind by 20+ points in the first half and then whittle away at the lead in the second half to make the final score respectable.
* Mike Young needs to start showing up for the first half. Mike finishes with 17 points but by the time he realizes the game has started his team is in a huge hole. Stop sulking and start playing.
* Jamel Artis has surprised me and most other folks. You figured he would struggle playing the point against Louisville but he plays his best game of the year and scores 43 points. Only Don Hennon has scored more in a Pitt game. Based on last night's game Jamel Artis has earned a long look by NBA teams. I think he could play the No. 2 guard in the NBA if he gets a chance. Kudos to Jamel Artis.
* Cameron Johnson goes 1 of 10 from the floor at Louisville after going 2 for 10 at Syracuse. He has to knocked down 35% of his shots or he has no value on the floor. Not a great defender, rebounder or passer. He has to score. Hopefully returning to the Pete Saturday will get him going.
* Last night TCU beat Texas in Austin to improve to 12-3. Like Pitt every conference game is a struggle for TCU. TCU had not beaten Texas in Austin in 30 years. The last time TCU won at Texas Jamie Dixon had 18 points and 9 assists.
* Pitt is now ranked No. 26 in CBS's version of the RPI rankings. Pitt's strength of schedule is No. 14 in the country. Pitt is 5-3 against teams ranked in the Top 100. The Panthers are not in terrible shape at 12-5 but they need to start winning now.
* Pitt plays 3 of their next 4 games at the Pitt. Now is the time to make a move.
* The ACC is the No. 1 ranked Conference in the RPI rankings. The ACC figures to send 10 teams to the NCAA tournament. Florida State, North Carolina, Duke, Notre Dame, Louisville and Virginia are probably locks. That leaves Pitt scrambling for one of the 3 remaining bids. Pitt needs to make a move against the Miami Hurricanes this weekend.
