This part of his history write-up sounds enticing:
"Coley was labelled and considered the ACC top recruiter by ESPN recruiting. Coley is considered to be an ace recruiter in the talent-rich South Florida area"
hmmmm....the Golden saga isn't one that ended happily. Golden was a proponent of pro sets, power FB...we need to continue the creativity Canada was known for.
personally i don't see coley as the guy. one, no connection with narduzzi and two, never coached north of georgia.

More importantly--has anyone in the press even mentioned Coley as a candidate? If not, this is random fan speculation only. Of course, that is what fans do on sports boards, so okay--but I would rather wait to discuss someone we know Narduzzi may actually be considering based on press reports.
I just put this name out there. I enjoy talking about Pitt sports, and figured this was worth discussing. He is a young guy, and I would assume he would like to get a HC job at some point. This would be a good step up and if he did a good job it would be a launching point towards a HC gig.
Being an ace recruiter in south Fla for FSU may not translate to Pitt.... IMO

What is interesting is that the same people that complained about the Canada hire will complain no matter whom is hired as the next OC. People were asking why we hired a guy that was fired at NC St.

A questionable hire is a questionable hire. And hiring a coach that was fired from the same job at a mediocre place like NC State fits that Bill.
We are very happy to have been proven wrong in this case.
The constant negativity created by the fanbase is an anchor on the program. Why didn't people give Canada a chance before posting negative crap about him? The same could be said for Howland, Dixon, and Stallings when they were hired.
That guy from Oregon went to hs in youngstown. Don't know if Narduzzi knows him. Also guessing he would like to add Shafer somehow.
i agree about shafer as well. but the only way that happens is if he fires conklin. because shafer will be able to get a dc job somewhere else. most likely he has multiple offers for a dc job.

I really doubt some discussions as a message board have had any impact on Pitts programs.
Truth be told, Pitt fans have nothing compared to most schools. I wish Sb Nation did their This Week in Schedenfraude feature this year. There were some gems last year.
Narduzzi is very good about leaks. You won't hear any names until a new OC is announced.

He obviously was a failure at Syracuse and I think has had varying success as a DC. Plus, he was dumb enough to make those idiotic comments a couple years ago during the Atlanta "snowpocalypse" that pissed a good number of people off, including recruits and coaches in GA, when he desperately needed players from down there. I mean, he is a football coach (and a scream and yell and motivate type guy, at that, not exactly an Xs and Os wiz) so I don't expect him to be a rocket scientist, but I do expect him to be smart enough not to piss off a region and then stick to his guns when he is proven, and called out, as a moron.
Then he quit Maryland this year after only a couple months, so who knows the real reason behind that.
Where did Majors and Sherrill come from? If you can recruit, then you can recruit.
They came from a place where you didn't let rules get in the way of getting the players you need, and that's exactly how they did it at Pitt.
Because averaging 33+ PPG at NC State in the ACC wasn't good enough for the typical yinzer. The man was fired largely because he was always flirting with the next job, not because of performance.
