We have all the momentum going and up by 10 because of Robinson and he takes him out. Wilson comes in and the offense goes to hell and we never really got the flow back. When you are struggling like we are, you need to ride the hot hand.

Good point. Wilson is not a college level PG. Hopefully he has the work ethic of Brad Wanamaker and becomes a similar player.

One minute it's play Wilson more JRob sucks , guess what the coach knows whose better . You can't play anyone for 40 minutes and when would you suggest he rest up 10 or even?

Same thing 4 minutes into the game. Jones makes three straight 3-pointers and goes to the bench. I doubt he was tired. He was in the zone and came out.

Wilson needs work ... now the board loves the talent ... JJ Moore over Patterson ... Newkirk over Robinson ... sort of thing, and I also am not thrilled with Wilson's handle. But Dixon has tried to get guys ready and be more aggressive with getting minutes. Now Wilson only played 5 minutes ... when else was Dixon to give JRob some time? This is really a petty bitch ... it did not work out, as it normally does not when JRob sits (something most JRob haters will see next year) but it was a smart call at the time.

Pitt needs and should have recruited someone else who could handle the ball - Jones, Smith, Wilson, C.Johnson and Milligan are not capable of playing even modest minutes at the point. We need to recruit another point for next year. Somebody has to go. The season would be a DISASTER is Kithcart has a real injury. Hell - I would not mind recruiting 2 additional points.

He is not a point guard at this level just like Cam Wright or Brad Wanamaker were not.
I would hope.that last night puts an end to the thought of him being the pg for this program moving forward.
I like him as much as anyone, but have thought he has looked his best playing w jrob.
The sooner kithkart gets adjusted, the better.

JD tried to pair a second pg w kithkart, but it didnt happen.
I get the sense that if they redshirted milligan, he might be a serviceable backup.
Also, clearly you dont want wilson to be your fulltime pg, but w maturity and experience he could nurse them through a few games.

I will taking over coaching over under coaching any day. Shocking how many ACC coaches we have seen who do absolutely nothing as their team disintegrates. Helping doesn't always help either, but at least it seems to show the coach is into it and wants to win.

I think Milligan goes and we bring in another point. If not Milligan someone else. Milligan is not a point either.

The reason Milligan got RSed... is because he only has two years left and we only had enough time to give one player 'experience' minutes so Milligan got RSed not Wilson (who had 4 years left).

Of course, Dixon may have already decided that the 4 star recruit Wilson is gonna be our PG come next year, regardless of how everyone is playing, and so that is the way it will be, assuming Dixon is still the coach come next year.

From what I saw of Milligan, if anything he was better than Wilson. Neither of them is really the floor general that Robinson is but Milligan seemed like the better penetrator and outside shooter.. a bit better. The only caveat on Milligan is he is not that tall.

Then of course there is Kithcart chewing up the HS schedule.

So, what is SHOULD be come next year.... whichever of the three plays the best gets to be the starting PG... regardless of whether Dixon is still the coach or not come next year.

Unless it's a 5th year guy, we're not bringing in another PG at this point in the cycle. We offered about 20 PG's in this class and got one. There are VERY few decent players left umsigned at this point. Kithcart, Wilson and Milligan will battle it out for the job.

I think Wilson IS a young Brad Wanamaker. He is awfully close to the typical Dixon combo off- guard. He's not really a PG but if Kithcart or Milligan can't get the job done, he may get shoe-horned in there.

The Robinson haters may get a dose of reality next year.

let's face it,nobody knows what kind of players Kithcart or Manigault will be next year, and everyone already has Kith penciled in as starting PG.

That's a tall order for any true freshman in any program.

Is it possible to recruit a point guard (who maybe is not a scorer and maybe is not tall, but who has a handle and can penetrate and distribute and stay in front of his man on defense) who is willing to come in knowing he will only play 10 minutes a game unless there is an injury, I have to believe there are still grad transfers out there, JCs out there and probably even some preps out there that fit that bill.

I do not want anymore combos unless the point percentage is 75% point, Can you dispute that this team has rarely had enough players capable of playing major minutes at the point. Woodall went down and we had nothing. We currently have no one to even give Robinson a blow.

I think if the Robinson haters get a dose of reality next year it is more so because the PG position has been both poorly recruited and developed and not because James has been anything special, as you imply.

And that's not a shot at James. I think he is a slightly above average PG for this program. At an Arizona or Ohio State, he may have been perceived more favorably.

Kithcart is the starting point guard by default. No one on this roster (after Robinson graduates) has enough handle to play even infrequent minutes at the point. Wilson and Milligan (Wilson is a player and Milligan is quick and can shoot but) are not points.

Our current PG started as a true freshman. And most on this board think he sucks.

Kithcart has the goods... at least enough so that Jamie will start him.

Kithcart will have growing pains. It is a big step from his level of competition to the ACC. He will compete for the job and maybe win it. But, freshmen starting PG's are fairly rare at the P-5 level. I hope he hits the ground running. But if he doesn't, it doesn't mean he sucks - even though plenty of our so-called fans will say that. He just has to grow into the job.

Robinson has scored 1000 career points and is the leading asist to turnover guy in the NCAA. He missed a triple-double last night by one assist. I think there have been two or maybe 3 triple-doubles in our history.

He's not a guy who is going to put a team on his back or score 20 points many nights, but he's one of the top 4 or 5 PG's in our history. Anybody who doesn't understand that knows nothing about basketball.

We have 3 guys who could start, I don't see anyone else coming in. We need at least a high school big man and possibly another transfer type big man. However, we don't have ebought spots for that. It seems like a HS big is the priority but once the season is over some grad and Juco guys might pop up on the radar.

We need another point more than anything.

Yes we will bring in another big but I assure you we will also bring in another point. The team already is in decline. Jamie can not and will not risk a disastrous season that would occur with a serious injury to Kithcart.

We have no real backup point. When Robinson comes out, the offense has no flow. Robinson has to play 38 minutes till our season ends. Other teams have players playing that many minutes - why not us?

Precisely. Our dose of reality will be what we already know--we have failed in the recruiting department, which is kind of an important department.

It seems Dixon has never been terribly concerned about having legit secondary ballhandlers. These combo guards he favors have some serious shortcomings--namely, they tend to be OK at everything and not very good at anything. And the past few years, we've paid the price for that.
