Javi will become the first Pitt player in MLS.

Also, we always seem to discuss the quality of MLS. It still has a ways to go as evidenced by the drilling that RBNY, Houston, and Atlanta have taken in the CONCACAF Champions League by Liga MX teams. SKC still has hope after losing 2-1 at a Panamian side.

Until MLS can spend like Liga MX, they will be far behind on their own continent.

It makes a difference when one group of teams is in the middle of their season and has been playing for months and the other group is in the middle of their exhibition schedule and hasn't played a competitive game in four months or so.

So is he going to see the field? LAFC is on TV this week vs. NYFC.

But didn't MLS get two teams into the Final 4 and one into the Final last year?

I think the MLS has only won a series against a Liga MX side 3 times. In the CCL era, without looking it up (Joe?), I'd guess that the MLS has only 3 of about 30 or 35 2 leg series against Liga MX.

I don't know about that, but last year, Toronto and NYRB made the Final 4, Toronto played Guadalajara in the Finals, tied them 3-3 in aggregate over two games, and Guadalajara won the finals on PKs.

OK, yes. The Red Bulls and Toronto each won a quarterfinal series last year and Toronto beat Chivas in the semis.

I think Seattle has 1 series win. Also RSL and Montreal. So, maybe there's 6???

SKC won a series yesterday too.

I don't know the exact number, but it is small. As I said, it's hard to compete with teams in the middle of their season when you are still in the middle of your exhibition games.
