During the WV game tonight. Huggins was sitting on his stool pissed off. Bilas says, "Huggins is usually a lot more jovial when he is sitting on a bar stool." Bilas, Raftery, and the bald headed guy were the best.
Lol....true, but eventually, we all do too. Hey you kids, get off my lawn!!!!!!!!Bilas has become a cranky old grouch. He use to have insights, but now he just whines about officials calls and rules he'd change.
LOL! The local paper used to have a columnist, Gilbert Love, who was an old guy. In one of his columns, he talked about how some local kids were giving him some headaches, and recalled how he and some of his buds had tormented some old codger many years earlier. Even the wildest youths will eventually become cranky, and set in their ways if they live long enough.Lol....true, but eventually, we all do too. Hey you kids, get off my lawn!!!!!!!!
He and Raft are still as good as it gets announcing college hoops.Bilas has become a cranky old grouch. He use to have insights, but now he just whines about officials calls and rules he'd change.
They really are. Two broadcasting legends there. He and Raft are still as good as it gets announcing college hoops.
I think Jay has gotten full of himself and has gotten away from being an analyst and has starting to fall into the Dicky V level where he thinks the fan is tuning in to listen to him. His constant harping on the NCAA is really getting old. McDonough is first rate
Raf is the most fun, too. Great guy to talk to...which I've done a couple times. Not enthralled with the sound of his own voice. Loves the game. Bilas is OK, agree that he can beat dead horses a lot.I really enjoy McDonough and Raf.
Bilas seems to gravitate more to comments that will "move the needle" - and I get wanting to establish yourself as an important voice among commentators. It just gets to be a little much sometimes, and I think that actually hurts his likability/credibility with fans. In all the years Raf has been at, he never seems to be too concerned with anything but adding great insight to the game.

Indeed. So you're saying he'd fit in perfectly around here!

Agree. But what I like most about it, is he explains and supports his complaints well, not like Dickie V who seems to do it more based on friends/relationships.Bilas harping on the NCAA is my favorite part of his media persona.
Agree also. As somewhat chauvinistic when it comes to sports, Doris Burke is completely enjoyable to listen to. Also, the ACC ESPN games has a girl, forget her name, who is also very knowledgeable and insightful. Those two along with Doris Burke are the best in the business.

She may be better than Burke. I enjoy them both.Kara Lawson? Playred for Pat Summit at Tennessee? Very knowledgeable about hoops.
That;s not all he does--he does a great job of dissecting and diagnosing what;s actually happening on the court. He's the basketball version of Herbstreit in that department, explaining the things that most fans don't see or understand while watching games. Herbie and Bilas take the fans from their couches into the coaches' film study rooms.Bilas harping on the NCAA is my favorite part of his media persona.
