Sean Miller is a Pittsburgh guy who graduated from Pitt. He is a huge Steelers fan and speaks often about his Steelers fandom.
Jay Wright has had many chances to leave Villanova. He has turned them down, saying he has the best job, the job he loves, in the city he loves. He spoke effusively about Villanova and how when he got to the Final 4 in 2009, he thought that was as good as it gets.
Sean Miller had a huge chance to return to his alma mater. It could have been a huge victory for Pitt. I always thought, and this is ironic, that when Jamie won and went to a Final 4, and say a Kentucky, UCLA, Arizona, UNC would come calling for Jamie, it would be OK, because we got Sean Miller waiting in the wings. Sean Miller pissed all over the job and program in 2016, when we needed him the most. Sean Miller is radioactive right now, and is not for long as Arizona's coach. He reached out for a Pitt lifeline this time. Our AD and Chancellor were correct in not offering him that lifeline. Too much risk.
