Seems to be the case. Which is why @steel_curtain curtain's bluster is misplaced. Dixon and Stallings recruited plenty of elite players. You gotta land them though. I hope Capel locks up Walker.

He was in the final 5 or 3 for a number of top 100 players. Naji Marshall, Kimani Lawrence, Amir Simms, Christian David and Jerome Hunter just off the top of my head. All ranked very well by rivals.

1) Stallings took a team that returned 7 of 8 starters and wrecked it. He put Artis at point guard, complete disaster. Everything Stallings did was a disaster. His coaching, his recruiting, hell even the team conditioning and training.
2) Pitt was fun under Matt Canada. Canada left, the speed went to the NFL, and Pitt football is bad. Blame Narduzzi for not recruiting track stars. The Central Florida track stars murdered Pitt
3) You can give credit Capel on November 6th when its officially day 1. At that point the star system doesnt mean shit, its all about performance on the court. Johnson, Mcgowens, Toney, Ndir, night and day better guards then last years non athletic defensive wastes. You might actually get a chance to see an aggressive defense again.
The players I mentioned all had Pitt in their final cut list. Naji was labeled a Pitt lean for a while before Stallings messed with his visit for his sons baseball debut. Had them in his final 5. Hunter visited 3 different times I believe. Simms said Sutton was like a father to him. David had them in his final 3 with Butler and Creighton.
No one is saying Stallings was a good coach. You just ignore facts that are being put in front of you.
We don’t have a 2019 commit yet. We’re one of 3 ACC teams at this point. This next month is important. It has nothing to do with Stallings.
-I honestly dont care what happened 2 years ago or anything that happened with Stallings. But just for reference, I pulled up Naji Marshall's recruiting profile on 247 just now. He cut his list to 7 schools July 25th and committed to Xavier 4 days later. If thats your idea of being in the lead thats on you.
-I dont care that Pitt doesnt have any commits. The 2019 recruiting cycle will go all the way into mid next year. Toney didnt commit until June 2nd. I wont be surprised if Capel gets 2020 players to reclassify to 2019. Seems no one has mentioned that on this board yet.
-The most important thing right now is wins. Pitt needs to get 16+ wins and double Stallings win total. Its a dam shame our own players admitted to quitting last year during the season and let teams blow us out on our own floor without trying. Start winning and the players will come, with or without Walker it doesnt matter.
You brought up coaches not trying and got called on it. Then say you don’t care about that. We all want Pitt to do well. Let’s just live in reality about what has actually happened.
Jucos, transfers and reclasses are definitely possible for the 2019 class. I think you’re kidding yourself if signing highly ranked players in November isn’t the first option though.

WOW, that's pretty optimistic. 16 wins? At this point, I'd take 12 or 13 as long as the team is competitive and doesn't lose games by 25+ like they did the last 2 years. You have to take this one day at a time, one step at a time. Capel hasn't proven anything yet, other than he's tireless and passionate. That's a good start. But it needs to translate into wins.
I want this program to get back to routinely winning 25+ games every year, like we did not so long ago. I think that's a good long term goal, achievable in the next 4 to 5 years.

No. Essentially none of the guys you framed "Lightning Fast Speed U" around went to the NFL after the 2016 season. Henderson, Weah, Ffrench, Whitehead, Moss, MacVittie, etc. came back to the team in spring 2017. Obviously Moss was kicked out (but he sucks a level down) and MacVittie left (and sucks 3 levels down) but the others came back and sucked. The only "Lightning Fast Speed U" player who went to the NFL was Conner and I'm not even sure he was included on your dumb "Lightning Fast Speed U" lists. He surely wasn't example of a "Lightning Fast Speed" player, even though he was/is certainly talented.
-Those were all good players besides TMAC and Moss. Moss was never fast to begin with, dont even know why you mentioned him. Henderson was an All American on special teams and made the Giants practice st team. Whitehead and Weah are in the NFL. Ffrench is one of our best players. Conner ran a 4.6 and weight 240lbs.

Yes, that is where I was born and spent my early years growing up, thus it is my "hometown". I do not live there anymore and haven't for a long, long time. Most people who are college educated don't live in the same place all their life.

It wasn't just "some guy" - there are 5 CB's (at least. I"m not a VIP so I can't see the other 3, but I imagine it's 8) on the 247 site that say it. Guys like Jerry Meyer and Evan Daniels aren't just "some guy." To be honest, Mike V is pretty much just "some guy."

If that is the case, then he is doing fine, but even further down than I thought. I thought I saw (via that thread/article posted on the football board) he was averaging 3.5ypc, but I thought he was at D1AA, not D2. D2 is a crazy big drop off.
Grand Valley the program at that level. They have put a good number of players into the NFL. They always seem to have a handful playing.

Only in relation to the "Lightning Fast Speed U" claims. He looked promising at Pitt, but he was never consistent and struggled as a sophomore before being booted. The D2 level he is playing at is really bad. He should be dominating. That is essentially really good HS football.

Well in that case, Pitt NEEDS 25 wins to get back to where we were before Dixon left. 16 wins gets us nothing except some Pitt fans saying we improved a little bit. And I have news for you. Pitt isn't going to get to 25 wins in the next few years at least.That's the bar I've set as for what Pitt NEEDS to get to in order to be a quality program again on a consistent basis.
There are too many people on this board who dissect every little word that people post and then attack other posters if they feel their words are not being read or understood completely. Here's another tidbit: IT'S ONLY A MESSAGE BOARD! It means nothing and most of us don't have the time that some others do to read every little meaningless word that is posted. We scan and throw in some post when we have the time. None of us knows more about what's going on than anyone else.
Jamie Dixon is a very good coach. I am not going to argue that. But the bar of 25 wins isn’t fair or accurate. Dixon was 40-27 and 17-19 in the ACC his last 2 years. The ACC is a completely different animal than the Big East. We are also playing more conference games moving forward, so you need to take away a couple cupcake wins.
-I dont think you understand how difficult it is to recruit when your team is 0-19 in conference play. Doubling Stallings win total in year 1 shows monumental improvement and makes it much easier to recruit a year from today.
Going 12-0 or 11-1 In the non conference part of your schedule pads your record nicely . Any coach would be hard pressed to win as many conference games as JD did in the BE , but JD teams in the ACC won 11 game once then they were 9-9 & 8-10 so to me anything approaching a .500 record in conference in JCs first three yrs would be remarkable . JDs teams in the ACC averaged 22 win seasons a much better benchmark .
It will not be hard to imagine that JC will be a beter recruiter than JD was at Pitt ( since now at TCU he's a different man ! ) what is yet to be determined is what kind of HC he'll be at Pitt . Don't just judge him on his time at OSU , the time he spent as Coach Ks sidekick should be invaluable .
Everyone needs to step back and take a deep breath , give him time , Pitt will be back playing competitive ball in a few seasons .
