What I really didn't like was last week when he came on the Fan, he was kind of whining about the facilities. I think this is starting to look like a marriage falling apart.

The only thing we dont have is a dedicated practice facility which is hard in an urban enviroment.
Seems the best approach would be to prepare as the schedule dictates, without assumptions, then adjust accordingly.

Moreso mean sole of the breaks… losing Hugley last year, starting the year without 3 guards, etc. Yesterday’s game was a weird situation too.
But all he talked about was brick by brick and a culture of toughness and no excuses… and he’s made excuses pretty much constantly.

Lol what if Capel was a D2/D3 coach and his teams regularly had to bus 3-4 hours to an away game the day of the game…. his poor team’s legs how can they be expected to win!!!
There is a dedicated basketball practice gym inside the Pete. I have attended events there. Not fancy but absolutely functional.
I agree 100% I’m just saying he has had some weird things happen but instead of figuring it out, making staff changes, etc, he’s whined like a little baby and acted too good for Pitt. It’s so tiresome.

There is a full blown gym for practice inside “The Pete”. Same one we used when we were in the NCAA tournament every year.
Yes but some schools have a whole building like the South Side Football facility. Or they just have more added on to their arena than we do.

Capel's excuses are beyond old and irrelevant now. Always the victim. Awww, poor Jeffy 😢. I can't stand people who constantly make excuses or complain about stuff to deflect from their own incompetence. This year is the worst. He says "No excuses" then goes right ahead and makes excuses. But that's what crybabies do.
We haven't had a real head coach for almost 6 years now. It's time we get one. The end of the Capel era can't come soon enough.

Well, if he can't win without state of the art facilities, then I guess we'll have to find someone who can. And he'll have to wait for that Kentucky job to open up.

I really wonder after he gets fired from here(whenever that is) will another D1 school ever hire him as a head coach? He hasn't made a case for himself at all. And it's not just the Pitt job he failed at. Would another school really hire him?
Capel is supposed to be a role model for these players. He is proving to be an awful example on how to accept responsibility. Is there any sort of accountability for Capel and his staff or just endless excuses from him?
I don't get it, did Capel say Pitt practiced so hard Friday, that their legs were gone Saturday, which made it hard to play well on Sunday?

This is what I talked about when I mentioned a while back about the poor character that Capel displays constantly. A man of good character doesn't make excuses and is accountable for his performance and mistakes. He doesn't whine. Capel is the opposite of that. He is not a man of good character.
But I was criticized for saying that by some on here. How many times do we have to see his poor character on display before he's gone? He's a very negative influence in the locker room and on the court for these young men.

I'm 70 and I could have practiced hard one day and be ready for more the next day. But I'm an in shape 70. I assume these kids are in shape also????? Maybe not. Apparently not.
Pitt has a major advantage in that they have everything in one arena. I think it was the Brush kid who said he liked that setup. The schools building basketball practice facilities are doing so because they have decrepid old arenas like WVU who dont have a practice gym
