Jeffress and Collier combined line

I didn’t but fair enough. Maybe he’s a gamer, maybe he got hot. It’s a small sample but also a maybe that he should have played more. I have said before coaches certainly aren’t infallible but I do largely believe they give the kids the minutes they earn or deserve.

I do know that his 3 percentage took a big leap. So if he was shooting like that in practice and not getting time then Capel is an idiot.
Don't let him fool you. Nike Had over 20 in two of those last five games, and single digits in two of them. He really had two good games. And as I stated to him, should he have played over Johnson, Toney, or Horton?

Kind of tough for Capel to play Oladapo when he has Covid, huh?

Gueye played over 31 minutes and the only reason he sat was because he was in foul trouble both halves.

if you are going to complain, at least come up with some good solutions. Your’s don’t help and are just complaining for the sake of complaining.
I follow the team. I know Oladapo was not available tonight.

You asked me what I would have done when John had to sit tonight, I told you: Gueye and Payton.

I added that more generally, I would give Oladapo All Colliers minutes.

Did Oladapo play a second against Notre Dame?

I think my answers to you were specific and quite responsive. You just don’t like them or agree with them.

No one is saying they are a good team, and hell I don't even think Capel deserve another year. You are picking some really weird arguments though.
You mean suggesting 2 specific players may be costing us in close losses?

Noah Collier is not an ACC level player buddy

What's puzzling to me is how players can spend their whole lives playing basketball and get scholarship offers at a high level and fundamentally have no clue of what a basketball shot should look like. It's not difficult to teach a kid how to shoot consistently with proper mechanics.

Weren’t Jeffries and Collier the two top players out of PA in their class? If not, they weren’t far off.

still, their story isn’t over.
Capel has lost some battles for prep players after courting them and their parents a long time. Meltdown after meltdown here. So a 4 Star from NW PA stayed in the fold. But now he should never have been recruited for this level of ball? Can’t win here with this crowd. Capel did recruit portal players, lost some, and got a couple who can help. Let’s wait until after the spring evals are done and the roster going forward takes shape. 6’10” from Stoneybrook? Look how many here reacted with “meh”.

Hugley has shown some of what he can do. I think he will be fine.

I see Gueye playing high on offense and low on defense.

He can hit the three, passes well and blocks shots on defense. I think he can even take some bigs off the dribble.

The guy can really move and is. Explosive. Does not fumble passes. Does not need to slowly gather his feet to dunk.

He definitely gives us a different look. I think that look plays well with Payton and Oladapo playing down low.

He was a total misevaluation along with Drumgoole. That's on the staff.

Jeffress also had an offer from Baylor, ND, and Memphis, Villanova, and others. Did they all also misevaluate him?

drumgoole also had several power 5 offers.

Sometimes played bust. It isn’t always a misevaluation.

Not playing Nike more last year would be another strike against this coaching staff.

Ya mean midway through the season when he wasn’t deemed eligible by the ncaa because the Miami (oh) coach denied his transfer ?
Then they worked him in.
You wanted xj and toney to get benched for Nike , who was unproven ?

Yes, of course they misevaluated him. At the end of the day its the responsibility of the coaches to sign players they feel will be plus-level ACC players regardless of where they are ranked. Jeffress and Drumgoole, both being highly ranked but not even mid-major level has really hurt the program. When you get guys ranked in or near Top 100, you expect those guys to be contributors in their FR season, solid starters in Year 2 and potential all-league level by Year 3,4.

I realize luck is part of this as you can never know for sure how a player will develop.

Any game in which Jeffress and/or Drumgoole got minutes should have gone to Nike, and Horton is hot and cold. As soon as it was obvious Horton’s shot was off, then Nike should have received those minutes. The only thing Horton brings to the table is outside shooting when he is on.

Drumgoole and will played the 3 mostly , Gerald rarely played .
Nike did cannabaliZe horton’s minutes -
Femi subbed primarily for xj and at times Horton when both femi and xj were together .
When x left and Horton sulked Nike got most of the pt

It’s a terrible take and another case of Gary chasing windmills.

Not really. You said give Gueye more minutes. That was not an option. Yes, maybe some for Payton, but Payton has been exclusively a 4, so Collier still needs to play some when Hugley gets in foul trouble.

Collier looked to me from day one 100% redshirted project or probably a guy who should have went to JC. Jeffress is mind boggling blue bloods had committable offers. Looks like a fb player who just took up basketball.

Jeffress kind of reminds me of Kithcart a little in he's a guy who was ranked fairly high and had good offers but really just hasnt improved from the time he was 15 or 16. Kithcart ended up being an 8 PPG guy in D2 and I feel that's about Jeffress's level.

This seems like a rather trivial thing to complain about in this particular game. Combining these two guys who played a total of 41 minutes is pretty much like looking at what your fifth starter did if he played the entire game. I don't know how many points the fifth scorer on each team averages, but combined with 9 rebounds and only 1 turnover, 5 points doesn't seem like some kind of disaster.

Everyone knows this team is bad and that Jeffress has been disappointing, but constantly looking for things to continuously complain about seems rather tiresome.

Jeffress played 20 minutes and did not register 1 shot. Collier registered 2 Shots. 2 shots in 41 minutes.

3 of the 5 points were scored by going 3 for 7 from the line

I want more from my fifth starter.

We all do.

But if they can't make them, I'm okay with them not taking them. I'm just thankful for the 9 rebounds.

That was my first impression of this season's version of Jeffress. It was easy to see that he spent good time in the weight room. Whatever remaining time spent on ball skills and/or with a shooting coach doesn't seem to have resulted in as much progress.
