The best he can come up with for Lincoln High School is Neil Diamond?

For a short time, I lived on Ocean Parkway, near Lincoln, and I became very familiar with its history. It probably has produced more famous alumni than any other New York public high school.

Among others: Playwright Arthur Miller (also one of Marilyn Monroe’s husbands); the brilliant Mel Brooks; the golden voiced Marv Albert; writer Joseph Heller (Catch 22); actor Harvey Keitel; drummer Buddy Rich; baseball player Lee Mazzilli; actor Lou Gossett, Jr., and it’s own NBA team in Stephon Marbury, Isaiah Whitehead, Sebastián Telfair, Lance Stephenson and David Newmark (from back in the days when there were Jewish basketball players). NBA great Billy Cunningham also went there but transferred to another HS. Also 3 Nobel Prize winners, but I can’t remember their names.

I don’t believe it has produced any NFL stars. Hopefully, Israel will be the first.

Another interesting tidbit: It was built during the Great Depression. To save money, New York hired one architect to design a high school, then used those plans to build Lincoln and 4 other high schools. All are identical except for the graffiti.

Psu landed a Wr from there awhile back that was #1 in the nation but ended up at usc.

We had a bball player from there - Ronald Ramon maybe Keith Benjamin????

Ramon was from the Bronx and Benjamin was from Mount Vernon (which interestingly is where Heavy D is from, i.e. “Money Earnin’ Mount Vernon”).

Recent Brooklyn hoops players I remember were Levance Fields and Chris Taft who both went to Xaverian which counters with Chachi as their most famous alum.

Ramon played at All Hallows and Benjamin played at Mount Vernon. They came in to Pitt together about 15 years ago.

Pitt recruited a few kids hard from Lincoln but never closed the deal in hoops over the past 20 or so years.

Very interesting stuff, thanks.

The best he can come up with for Lincoln High School is Neil Diamond?.. something wrong with a Rock and Roll hall of famer representing your school?

I mean he's no Sebastián Telfair but who is?
