Jeter talks about de-commitment

Last Paragraph:

“I don’t want to play for a mediocre school,” he said. “I don’t want to play for a team that goes like 7-6. I want to go to a school that plays in the big bowl games or plays in the College Football Playoff. I don’t want to go to an average school because I don’t think I’m an average player. I want to make big time plays on a big time stage.”

D Jeter has NFL aspirations I guess.

He needs to go to a school where can play quickly to highlight his skills and not ride the bench.

Hey D it worked for Aaron Donald.

Are you as good as AD, if so you can also make it at Pitt.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Don't get your hopes about him coming to Pitt. He's sounding more like Pryor...

Agree. I will say that talent always rises. You can play anywhere. If you are good enough, you will get noticed.

He also needs to stay off of Twitter if he takes things so seriously. Truly. He can't let Twitter yoyos get in his head.

Go out and play hard. He is lucky enough to have options. Most high school players don't have the opportunity to receive a scholarship, let alone multiple ones to big schools. Go out and play hard.

If he goes anywhere besides ND it will be Michigan probably

This kid is all over the map, he doesn't know which way is up. Is he getting any advice from his parents? Does he really have a commitable offer from Michigan? If so, maybe he will try to get them to offer Wade as well.

Just a gut feeling but I do wonder if he's going to be a problem in the locker room.

Not that it makes much difference, but the preceding paragraph seems to indicate that is an old quote from an interview over the summer. He openly admits he has changed his top choice around a half dozen times already, so it's best that he just finishes out his HS career and avoids another impulse decision. Wherever he ends up, I see no reason to argue that logic.... just young, unsure, and overwhelmed, like most of us would have been at that age.

Pitt should have a very good shot. When he committed to ND, I thought we had a 20% shot, 60% for ND, and 10% for everyone else. I'd say we are probably still around that %. However, we need to win, obviously. That is why making adjustments and winning those games against OkSt and UNC would have been so big, no matter whether a redshirt is burnt or not. Even just that UNC game and we are 6-1 (3-0), the clear favorite for the Coastal, and probably could wrap it up vs VT in our next game. That tells a much, much different story to recruits and it could easily be 7-0 and a top 15 ranking.

Ouch.

Seems like no and he definitely doesn't have one from Alabama.

Yeah, just some of those quotes, he isn't coming to Pitt. He wants a tOSU, Michigan, Bama, or something like that. Which is fine.
It is unlikely he has a committable offer to any of those schools, though.

Maybe he wants to go to one of those places, but this may end up being a similar situation to Shayne Hale, where we win out by being his only real option as he chases the big fish. I'm ok with that. He has talent and the staff has made him a priority. All that matters is we get him, not that he lived and died to go to Pitt from start to finish.

First, I wouldn't trust Michigan and harbaugh for sure. And secondly, is jeter dominating his competition? I have not seen him play

And when he doesn't play at one of the football factories but watches some of his friends go to the NFL because they selected a U where they can play some of us will say "we've watched this movie before."
Good luck!

Not a good strategy,as we have seen good team lose key players in the middle of the season, and lose that top spot for the big bowl game..To many things can go south fast.

The only issue is he is enrolling in January. So he does have some time, but not until the first week of February like those that are not enrolling early.

I guess to nitpick the quote...if you are not an average player, won't you make your team better? The Deion Sanders rule going on....can't win a championship with the Falcons, so jump on a team that would win the Super Bowl with or without you.

Wow! That's a pretty serious indictment of ND.

Well, our chances are a lot better than they were 24 hours ago. The first thing to get someone to flip is to have them actually decommit, so that is step 1. Yeah, that statement is concerning, but I'm sure Narduzzi is doing all he can to mitigate it. As he said his favorite changes weekly. Kind of like musical chairs on this one; just hope when the music stops we are the ones holding the chair.

He has stated that he wants to go to a school that feels like home. He has been to Pitt numerous times and if he doesn't have that feeling by now then it may be time accept that Pitt is not a desirable destination. I would be more than satisfied with Garbutt and Tynman but that could be wishful thinking. Once he decided to verbal to ND, like most others that go elsewhere they are forgotten. Wish them luck and injury free playing career. Time to move on.

Jeter needs to do what's best for him.

Just pointing out that people shouldn't get their hopes up just to get disappointed again. I believe it's a long shot based on his comments.

It's best to move on and let it play out.

I would love to see a statistic that illustrated how recruits panned out that switched commitments multiple time. Sticking with decisions and perservering will take you a long way in life.

I saw him play at Apollo-Ridge. His team was way better and they dominated Apollo but he did not do much in that game to stand out. Played D-end and Tight-end that night and perhaps he was not motivated due to the level of competition.

I saw him play against CV last week and he played quite well. Showed that he could play at the next level and be effective. I guess competition brings out the best in him.

I still think our chances of getting him, despite his statements, are just north of 50/50. He would be a great recruit for us, but he must wake up and realize that for every Tyler Boyd or Aaron Donald that comes to Pitt, there will be a Robert Foster or two that goes elsewhere. He can play early here and be in the NFL in three years if he is good enough. That is probably not the case if he goes to a top program where he might have to wait a couple years to see the field.

I hope he and the family haven't been spending their time in the Beaver Valley talking to Robert Foster's dad.

Jeter needs to understand, if he's a 4 year player, and he goes anywhere besides Alabama, Michigan, or Ohio State, there is a decent chance he will play on a mediocre team that can only muster 7 or 8 wins.

I don't know why some of you are counting Pitt out. He clearly mentioned Pitt in the article... as a one-time favorite and a school that has been in touch throughout the process.

Can't help it, but one thought that came to mind reading this is that Franklin's whining about "negative" recruiting happens ALL THE TIME. He needs to grow up, or maybe "grow" a pair.

Having said that, honestly, Donovan needs to pick a school where he thinks he'll be happy. If it's Pitt, great, if not - what can you do? Kids follow their own instincts like it or not.

And how do we know that next week, he doesn't change his mine and want to go to a mediocre team that he can start for from day 1? He clearly states his mind changes as the wind blows.

Interesting...........apparently all the great Pitt fans on this site think Narduzzi will never get the team to play in an ACC championship game and his ceiling is 7 or 8 wins..........

It doesn't matter what we think, it's what he thinks... Try and keep up so we don't have to explain it to you in detail... BTW, aren't you on the wrong board????

and you know what he thinks of PItt how?

Clearly you assume hes talking about Pitt and essentially agree with him because you dont think PItt has a chance.

No need to keep up with a half with drama queen

Why, doesn't he think he can help make a mediocre school better? he want to go to a school thats above mediocrity is because he doesn't want to put in hard work to make it a better program, maybe he should consider Alabama
