Jimbo Going Nuts

I think the way he is going after his own players is even worse than his actions on that play regarding the bad call

Not that I think what Narduzzi did was completely right on Thursday but when Jimbo with ACC titles and a national championship and more cache going off about the refs and in the postgame interview then you have to look at how this conference can upgrade the officiating IMHO

Yes, I think the officiating issues this week will be good in the long term for the ACC. The league definitely needs to invest in more training for these guys.

A bit more cache ...that's just BS logic.... any coach with eyes in his head can see poor officiating....it's not about earning the right to bitch

I'm glad to see that the coaches are finally going after the officials aggressively.

When Pitt first got accepted into the ACC, we had posters from other ACC schools warning us in advance about the officiating. I'm not putting them down, but their attitudes were one of resignation: "yes, it's a problem...it's just the way that it is...it's never gonna change." But in a matter of three days, we had two coaches -- Narduzzi and Jimbo -- going-off big time on the ACC officiating.

Maybe this will embolden more coaches, and Athletic Directors, to speak-up and get the league officials to address this issue. Given the amount of money that's now at stake from the outcomes of these game, it was about time that someone spoke up.

His main beef was a questionable illegal block 10 yards from the actual tackle.

If you see the replay his anger is justified.

Bad bad call

That said....if cook dosent drop one right in his hands the Noles likely pull it out.....or at least send to OT.

The call was correct and Jimbo flipping out probably cost his team the game. The penalty yards killed that drive and they looked out of sync after that call. He won't get killed by the media because of the titles he has won, but if he would have kept his composure they may have won that game.

eliminate conference officials who have vested interests in a league member making CFP. Use ACC officials for your Duke/WF games, but national playoff stakes need out of conference crews. How you guys beat WVU that year remains one of sports great accomplishments. Didn't you have back to back td called back?

There were more than a few bad calls against the Noles, and the officiating did have a big impact on the outcome, Just like the calls did in the Pitt game,

That is like saying, if Jimbo don't complain, the officials may not have called an off side against the noles. The noles were getting screwed time and again, and it did cost them a game.

Much a do about nothing, many Coaches in the past have gone nuts on Refs on Sidelines, Bo, Woody, Paterno, Bryant, Mckay, Parseghian, Holtz, and many more, because they know it can influence how the game will be called later during that Game.

I noticed Narduzzi screaming on Offensive WRs push offs not being called, and yet ACC Refs in Clemson-Fsu Game did have it called at times?

The Elite Coaches do it like Meyer, Petrino, Harbaugh, Saban, Carroll, Fisher, and so do other Great and Very Good Coaches like Dantonio, Ferentz, Kelly, etc .

Some like Paul Chryst, Fitzgerald, Riley, Franklin, Holgrosen, and Strong that are more subdued actually hurt their teams when not doing it?

Jimbo attacking his own players, and the fact that the team seems to be poorly coached, is the reason they lost the game. If the media/public wants to be "concerned" with the antics of coaches on the sidelines I think Jimbo and Holgy from WVU should be at the top of the list. Pretty sure I saw Jimbo grab/yank one of his own players Saturday night as well

Good point, I did not see that on TV as you did, but my Post was limited behavior by Coaches on what they feel are unfair bad Ref Calls not going both ways?

Coaches going after Players on their Team is up to them, look how Kelly has hurt himself over it. The Game causes many heated moments on the sidelines and some coaches lose it, and that is on them.

All I know what I saw in VT Game and there were push offs, grabs, and hands hitting all Game long, and in the USC Game too. The Refs seem to be inconsistent and it upset Coach Pat quite often and Helton too.

Yet, in FSU-CLEMSON game some WRS was called. The ACC Refs just need to be more consistent, but others can disagree.

The other officials would have a vested interest in a team making the playoffs as well. If you got a Big Ten crew to ref the Clemson/Florida St game, then the refs would have a vested interest in Clemson losing because it would help the Big Ten get into the playoffs.

Florida St scored a touchdown on the same drive where Cook dropped the pass.

There were not any offensive pass interference calls in the Clemson/Florida St game. In fact, in the 1st quarter, a Florida St wide receiver pushed a Clemson defensive back to the ground, yet it was the Clemson DB was flagged for pass interference.

For everybody complaining about the crackback penalty, on the very next possession, Florida St got away with a blatant faskmask on Deshaun Watson, which put them in 3rd and 21 deep in their own territory. Clemson made play and picked up the first down, and scored on the drive. The difference is, Clemson overcame a bad call, Florida St didn't.

I recall that play and penalty. I thought at the time that it was a bogus call. Fact is that I thought it was what we used call a cross body block. Not a blind sided block on an unsuspecting player.

The rules were changed a couple of years ago. You can't block below the waist on a player downfield unless you hit him from the front. If you hit him low from the side or the back, it's a penalty. You can question whether this individual instance was a penalty, but in general the rule has been changed from what you remember.
