Former Kentucky coach that replaced Adolph Rupp and won a National Championship in 1978.

Not to sound morbid, but I assumed he had passed many years ago. He didn’t look that young when he was coaching and had been retired for nearly 40 years. Maybe it’s just me but Hall seems like a name almost out of the Dark Ages as he had been out of the game for so long, guy had a hell of a lengthy retirement.

Remember the year he had Sam Bowie and Melvin Turpin as twin towers. Got blown out in Final 4

I could have used a few extra Hall passes when I was in high school.

He was fairly active and visible at UK games up until the pandemic. He used to host a radio show with Denny Crum after DC's retirement.

I remember the Final Four debacle against Georgetown. The Cats had a good lead in the first half. The second half was an absolutely disaster. Their shooting percentage was ridiculously bad in the second (half like 10 to 15%) from the field. Only 3 or 4 FG's. G'town went on to beat Houston for the title that year.

I saw Dale Brown in the stands at a LSU game recently. OT, but Wade landed another 5-star this week.

Dale Brown another good example, retired for 25 years but still going.

Sonny Smith is another one. I think he is still doing color commentary for Auburn Basketball.

Hugh Durham, Wimp Sanderson, Don DeVoe... A lot of that old guard that was a staple of 80s SEC basketball is still alive and kicking.
