It does make you wonder "how close" he was to all of this given there were already multiple incidents that have already been acknowledged. Not just being aware, but possibly completely ignoring it. Most human beings, if action were not taken under their watch, would have resigned and publicly exposed all of this...which looks like it extends back into the 70s at a minimum now. This should not be surprising though, as child predators just dont turn on overnight at a late stage in their life. Sandusky would have been in his 30s at this point and back in the pre-90s, child abuse was one of those "dont ask, dont tell" things especially in rural areas like State College.
The worst part about this is people knew going back this far that could have easily prevented all the victims in ths 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Instead, they decided to watch out for themselves and didnt want to derail the football gravy train at any cost.

Sources tell the KDKA Investigators the 57-year-old man is the third man who claims he was sexually assaulted at the Brownson House more than 40 years ago.

“He started fondling and touching me. I’m 11-years-old, it felt good. I didn’t know any better. Next thing I know, he was raping me,” the victim said.
“He kept repeating ‘Real men don’t cry.’ I kept telling him how bad it hurt. My stomach was hurting awfully. He kept saying “Real men don’t cry’ until I finally pushed backwards and he fell away from me,”
Tears streaming down his face, he says he ran away from the scene, ran home.
"I just thank God it was raining that day when I went home. That's why I like the rain now, you can't see tears in the rain, so no one could tell I was crying."
The victim also said he’s tried to commit suicide three times.Many are asking why he came forward now -

You need old school justice. The guards need to accidentally be distracted, and let the prisoners handle Sandusky.
Thats what shocks me (or actually sadly doesnt shock me) about reading that thread on BWI. Not one person went "wow, hope thats not true because it could have prevented Sandusky from abusing all these children for decades". That is not defending Sandusky. That is merely saying you hope this information isnt true because it means that the abuse could have been halted well before all the other victims that were identified. Instead, its "us against the world", "bring out the statue", "celebrate paterno", etc. Definitely not the time to be celebrating when new info comes out that could have prevented a lot of lives from being ruined at the hands of a convicted child molester like former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky.
