Joe Starkey Trashes HCPN

There's one thing you can always count on.

Many members of the Pittsburgh media typically have no interest in Pitt and won't comment or talk about us on the radio when things are going well.

Starkey's usually much more interested in who is practicing on the 4th line for the Pens.

But when there's time for controversy or to pile on with negativity, they'll sure show up.

And, like clockwork, some of Pitt's own "fans" will be there to support them. Forget about the fact that our own fans are being played for dupes in the process --in some cases, cheering on individuals who appear to openly root against Pitt.

Anyone remember the Stallings press conference and the media's behavior there? Back then, we had "fans" on here cheering on the hometown media while they trashed Pitt. And the only people more supportive of the media's frenzy were PSU and WVU fans.

People on this board wonder why Pitt doesn't win more. Or why local recruits go elsewhere.

Going well, or going avg?

The Pirates went from 98 wins to 79 and attendance plummeted, But did Starkey and the cast of loons (Filliponi, Cook, Gene Collier, etc) in the Pittsburgh media jump on their case for such a historic collapse? Not a word against the lovable Pirates. You would think Nutting was baptized in the Mon the way he exercises such control over the yinzer media.

Do anyone remember much favorable media coverage after we beat PSU? I remember one particularly favorable column from Rob Rossi. That's it.

Or when we were ranked last season? New coach--first season. Nah--no positive press--only negativity when a loss followed.

Fundamentally, any fair observer would say that the response of the press--after a big win--such as the PSU game--is never commensurate with the negative press we receive after a loss.

And I notice quite a few posters who melt down after a loss who appear to be completely absent from the board after a win.

We lost to a ranked team by 3 points. And that's grounds for trashing our coach? Of course not--but there's posters on here praising it.

The whole thing is bizarre.

Well, Pitt is better than:
Penn State
PU
Ohio State
UMD
Marshall

UVA
Minnesota
GT
Villanova
Kent State

Spot On! Who needs enemies if you're getting hit with friendly fire?

Wanny stopped WVU from a national championship as a 28 point dog, screw you idiots. Wanny loved pitt, his recruiting was getting better each year, another mistake by the TWO CLOWNS. PEDEY AND NORDEY

He also stopped himself from winning a Big East Chamlionship against Cincy/Marty Gilyard.

And Wanny was an avg recruiter and was not getting better each year. That's BS. His QB and OL recruiting was atrocious. Had a good individual o line here and there but as a unit they were never that good.

I agree completely on the fans being played for dupes....absolutely.... and the "come clean"...remark was patently absurb

Whats scary is this defense has 8 or 9 starters back from last year.

Whitehead has regressed after being in the system a 2nd year.

Webb has regressed after being in the system for his 2nd year.

Maddox has regressed after being in the system after his 2nd year. Its not as if they regressed a couple of spots. They have regressed to the point of being one of the country's worst.........Is it talent?

I think Conklin, and the Dbacks coach need a serious sit down with Narduzzi at season end. I will gain great respect for Narduzzi if he shows he can make some tuff decisions in the off season. The technique these dbacks use is atrocious. That is a redflag when evaluating the coaching they are not taking too
Well, that or this board owes a massive apology to long time whipping boy Lafayette Pitts.

waa waa waa all you guys do is cry... these games have all been entertaining and after all that's what it is... lose to a good team and you cry and want to take your ball home.

Thought about Pitts a few times this year, you know the guy who never turned his head around when the ball was arriving?

Not sure if he would be an improvement or would fit right in. Probably better off if he had another year f eligibility.

Wannstedt coached in a watered down league and still couldn't get it done. He went 5-6 and 6-6 in his first two years, losing to mighty Ohio in his first year. Give me a break, it's not even close.
While there are some concerning similarities between the two, it's pretty clear that narduzzi is quite a bit ahead of the Wanny curve.

Why throw out Villanova and Marshall? So it fits your stupid narrative?

I think you know the answer so no need to undress you.

BUT I will add....had it not been a tipped pass that miraculously landed in orndoffs hands

Pitt is 4-8 against the big boys.

Soon to be 4 -10 before another possible W........

Let that sink in........for those expecting a turnaround.

Oh please feel free to try.......why throw those out? like I said to fit your stupid narrative? but nice try...why not throw out last second field goals to win games......trust me you have no clue

Well.....

Last second field goals are based on execution.....the GaTech win was dumb luck.

It's ok...I understand you're a little chapped.......

But you should be thanking me for describing the 4 solid wins against 10 losses

It will soften the pain and anguish when Cook...Starkey...et al crush Pitt yet again in two weeks.....
