Jones got 2 sacks yesterday and Weaver has started for Tenn.

Both playing OLB in 3-4 D. 2nd year for Weaver playing LB. But more of an adjustment for Jones as Minn just switched to 3-4 this year.

Really liked these 2 at Pitt, glad to see them coming along in the NFL.

Weaver makes some sense. Jones, nice surprise, wouldn’t have seen him play that.

Mathis has three DPIs tonight, one could've gone either way, but he's making some plays for the Broncos.

One was a bad call. But after settling in he’s holding his own. No matter who plays opposite of Patrick Surtain they are going to go after him. I’ve said this many times, I think Mathis will have a really good career.

Had four and a few missed tackles as of the end of regulation. Had a rough game last week, too. Hopefully he figures it out. They said on the broadcast that he was a press corner in college (as we know) being asked to do something else. HAs to be some learning curve associated with that (in addition to the fact that playing CB in the NFL is difficult enough to begin with).

I don't understand why teams do this- being a good man corner does not mean you will be good in a zone heavy scheme. Different skillsets. The Chargers spent a ton of money on JC Jackson and had to bench him already. Tampa Bay wasted a lot of money on Revis that one year too. Some of these coaches are top dumb to tie their own shoes.

Yeah, it certainly doesn't make sense on the surface. I'd be lying if I pretended to know the different nuances in each scheme (Pitt vs the Broncos) and where there is overlap, if any. Like the penalties were more of a technique thing (as opposed to, say, him not picking up the right guy in a zone concept), so I'm not sure if the man/zone thing is irrelevant or not in this case. The consensus seems to be that at least three of the four calls were "iffy," so it might be the case that he really didn't play all that poorly, or he might have to learn to be less handsy. I think Pitt's corners have a pretty good reputation among opposing fan bases for getting away with a lot of contact.

Between pass interference and offensive/defensive holding, things really get pretty murky for me. Because it's quite literally happening on almost every play.

Yeah that third call was bogus. And he made some nice plays as well. Hard to put too much blame on the Broncos defense when their offense is so atrocious. I am starting to wonder if Hackett even lasts the season given what they are paying Wilson. Their DC is a fast rising McVay disciple, wouldn't be surprised to see him get a chance there soon as HC.
