they walk with having access to info that creates demand in their articles and nuggets of info with closed practices/scrimmages. It is clear that HCPN does not want other teams to know what they are working on and personnel used but how does a site charge for info if it is not possible?

I like Chris Peak and think he does a good job of covering our Panthers but he must feel pissed off to not being able to do his job. JMHO

I like it, and I agree with you. I think some practices need closed off, but it also has to be frustrating for those that cover the team

^^^Good points.^^^

In another thread on the other board, a well intentioned poster mentioned Pitt fans' "right to know" about the items in question. Can we all assume that there's no such thing as "the right to know" about anything involving Pitt football - and this becomes especially more relevant when our coach(es) have apparently made it a point of saying that they don't want certain info released for general consumption.

Yep, there is no "right to know" but I do go onto other team's sites and there does seem to be more intel than with our Panthers.

Premium sites are justified by camp notes, recruiting and injuries IMO so it must be hard to push for subscribers if info is hard to come by.

We were yanked Saturday..

The main bread and butter of the site is recruiting news. You're never gonna' get the ins and outs out personnel and specific formations and plays. You think Nick Saban sits down with the playbook and has the media gather round?

It honestly has to be boring covering training camp, aside from stories like QB battles and players coming back from injuries or worse in Conner's case.

I just want to know because this is a big problem when people justify a wrong and try to make it right. I guess most people are above the rules .so just because Chris makes a tough call he is wrong when at first people break the rules and other people fight to justify there wrong well become a republican I guess. The masters of half truth. To be fair the democrats just don't care if you catch them lying.time to let it go this is eating you guy's up.

-There has been videos posted on youtube interviewing coaches, players, and Narduzzi almost every single day of camp. Some of it is vague, some of it is crystal clear. If a player isnt getting talked about, he most likely is not just going to come out of nowhere and start putting up All American or All ACC production.

-He probably isn't getting mentioned because he is not even in the competition for a 2 deep spot and isnt going to play right away. The Coaches have without question talked about certain players, including, freshmen. They just go about it in a certain way. For example, let's look at Hendrix. Tom Simms constantly talks about his work ethic, how he is constantly in the film room, how he is constantly the first guy up, the last guy to leave, the strongest guy, etc.. But he completely downplays it because he wants to push his players to get better every day and not slack off. We all know Hendrix is going to play a lot and be a big part of the defense. But Simms and Narduzzi are not going to say "Look out ACC, we have a beast coming at you sacking our own QB left and right, we are warning you now". You have to read between the lines, its not hard.

-People are looking for a specific 2-deep player breakdown since the season is 2 weeks away. That's not going to happen. But it is clear some freshmen and players are clearly ahead of others. There is a reason certain players get mentioned, and others do not. There is a reason the freshmen defensive line is getting mentioned, and other positions with freshmen the information is a lot more vague, and its mostly tied into with early performance and expectation the first few weeks of the season.

The point here though is Chris didn't report the scimmage; a poster did. Why should Pitt have any expectation that Chris would prevent posters from posting information to which they had access?

I do not think Pitt had any expectation that Chris would prevent someone from posting their own eye witness report but I do feel it is hard for Chris and other writers who did not have access to scrimmages.

Well my only reaction is that something caused Chris to delete the thread and I believe it's hard to escape the conclusion that, at least in part, it was due to his believing that's what Pitt wanted or expected him to do.

I stopped premium membership some time ago so I am not aware of that. Censorship sucks!
