This is a HUGE year for Narduzzi, Pitt, recruits, fans and the future of the football program! I think we all can agree, and imo the staff needs to do everything to win Now!. With that said, there's no way I'm bringing Jordan Whitehead in to cover a few plays here and there at Safety, when he can probably make an immediate impact at receiver, while Boyd is out. There's no better time to get him the reps and let the safeties who been there, do what they do.
I thought Wheeler would/could be the necessary domino to fall but now I'm in the belief that Coleman would be that domino that would fall and bring allot of great pieces with him, even though Wheeler is expected to commit first, if at all!
To that point, there's some talented recruits that are on the cusp and winning some games is really gonna go far with those guys, and losing some winnable games ala being Pitted could hurt recruiting efforts, therefore cripple progress needed for future perception!
Thank heavens for Barnes... There's a clear night and day difference in his ideals and plans for making things so much different than what we've experienced with the previous AD. Barnes and Gallagher's biggest attribute has been their willingness to listen to the fans and alum..kudos to them!
Lastly, I would like to think that anything under 8 wins would be extremely disappointing...Yes even with defense we had last year. We have much better coaches, certainly much more reputable for defense and we have an influx of talent that should allow the coaches to do the things that drives their schemes...ie blitzing, press coverage, take the QB out of his comfort zone by not allowing him to survey the area while we sit back and let him dictate what he wants to do, while he's reading a soft and passive defense. The Offense will certainly be explosive and hard to stop...
Lastly, if we're able to put some butts in these seats during these games that are nationally televised, it would do wonders with the atmosphere and recruits will take notice whether on tv or as we seen, with the localI recruits being at most home games! So yes, we have a part in the rebuilding process also!
One final point: We basically had the this same scenario when Chryst had his first year and game to start his career against YSU. We had multiple players out and some were key players at key positions, just like this year. The difference is, Pitt is in better hands and better shape to handle tis type of adversity than the first time around. Narduzzi's will to win is second to none, the offense shouldn't have the same struggles under an experienced running attack and QB...also the Defense should provide a much better game plan to stop the offense that Polini is used to running but with inferior players than the ones he had at Nebraska. I fully expect Pitt to still cover and win, perhaps not as comfortable as they should before the bone headed incidents...but they will take care of the mighty Penguins.
