I hear you. In fact, let's pencil it in as a win. Where are we in the "real" standings? I think we also beat Notre Dame, swept Virginia, and beat The Citadel in "real life." Refresh my memory... Did we win that Minnesota game? Can't remember what the final decision was on that one, and I don't want to fall into a trap where I'm left going by what the final score says, because we know how inaccurate that can be.
Who cares? This season is simply practice for Capel's last chance. I have never cared less about results of Pitt basketball games.
I'll be surprised if even 2 of them happen let alone 3. Like I said, maybe VT. And that's a huge maybe. We're not a good team, we don't have the players, and we definitely have no coaching.
You could be right. VT has a lot of talent but is having a down year. ESPN projects them with an 82% chance of beating us in Pittsburgh and a 94% chance of beating us in Blacksburg.

With this team, I don't like any of those odds. So GT and NCState are basically toss ups and the rest are losses. We may not win another ACC game the rest of the year. Our best chance was yesterday and we got blown out.
We were never going to win a road game with this team, especially not under yesterday's circumstances. With Horton back, I expect us to start playing our best basketball of the year soon. Lets hope I'm not wrong.
I hope you're right. But what does Horton really bring to the table? His net (points scored - points given up) may be a negative or a wash. His defensive liabilities are significant. I hope that changes.
Horton is infinitely better than Jeffress. Jeffess is probably the WORST offensive player Pitt has ever had. Like seriously, ever. And his D is just average to above average. He's not JP out there on D. Horton can get hot and score 20 and win a game for you. As I said, his man isnt dropping 20 on him a night. Horton O+D > Jeffress O+D. If Jeffress was just average on O or even below average, like say a Chris Jones or Cam Wright, you may have a point but he is atrocious. D2 bad. I'm not sure if he scores more than 12-13 PPG in D3. He's really bad.
Yes but he’s only 18 and we all know that 18-year olds have never been successful in college basketball.
GT, NC State, 2 x VT, this is why the BC game was so meaningful. If Pitt can not win on the road then it has to sweep all three home games to get to six, also if Pitt plays like it did yesterday in any one of those three home games, I fear, the bottom will drop out, by which I mean players of importance will be thinking "Portal" come "The Ides of March"... "Et tu, John?"
There are ZERO important players in this Program. It’s Arguably the WORST program in the ACC.. Is Hugley really that important? He’s avg 6 turnovers his last 7 games.. Sorry. Blow the whole trash heap up..
Our best chances are the home games with Geo.Tech, Vir.Tech and NC St.
I think we beat Vir.Tech, mostly because we play them twice close together.
Maybe we get one of the other two.
Freshman Mike Young was great that afternoon, as were Talib and Lamar, man I even miss those days at this point, started 13-1
I think you're right, Gary. Our only chances are with those home games, and that's only if the team doesn't do it usually swan song in February. We won't win any road games. So maybe 2 more wins tops the rest of the year.
Will Hugley stick around if he can get a better opportunity for next year? Will the team be lost the rest of the year of we don't win a game soon? I don't think we know any more than we did a month ago. This team is what we thought it would be with no improvement.
Once he got that 7 figure NIL deal from the SMF Department over at Western Psych, he's really seemed to lose some focus.
In what universe does Hugley not want a lucrative NIL, play for a winning team before big crowds and play in the tourney?
He can have that.
He is a regular freshman. I have seen everything I need to see. If he improves immensely, he may develop into a key bench player or possibly a 5th starter in a couple years.
We were down like 16-2 or something and I was about as sick as I've ever been. Probably had the flu. Was barely able to wake up for the game and went back to sleep directly after. Contrast that with Covid and it felt like a minor cold.
