Just FYI...rosters and stars for each team

Nope. He simply wanted to go somewhere else where he could play. Georgia wasn't going to sit Bennett after he won it all. No sane Coach would. Give that kid some credit...when he got his chance he capitalized on it. I seem to remember a QB with the last name of Brady who also took advantage of a similar situation in New England?

No one who understands chemistry on a football team would sit a winning Championship QB. The guy Brady replaced left for Buffalo. Likewise, JT went to another school where he could play.

He found a great home waiting for him in Almost Heaven...Wild, Wonderful West Virginia. BTW, he LOVES it here!

ATHENS — Georgia quarterback JT Daniels is committing to transfer to West Virginia and play for the Mountaineers in the Big 12 this upcoming season, according to a source with direct knowledge.
Daniels will graduate from UGA in May with a degree in psychology, making him immediately eligible as a graduate transfer. Daniels visited West Virginia last weekend.

“I love Georgia and Georgia has always loved me since I’ve been here,” Daniels told ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who also reported the news on Wednesday morning. “It’s been a really, really good and supportive fan base. I’m very, very thankful. I had no problems adjusting. I wouldn’t even consider it an adjustment. Everyone here has been good and honest and good people.”
Daniels was 7-0 as Georgia’s starting quarterback in his two seasons with the program, setting school marks for passing efficiency and yards per attempt before being sidelined by upper-body injuries last fall that led to Stetson Bennett becoming the quarterback.
West Virginia is coming off a 6-7 season under fourth-year coach Neal Brown, who hired former record-setting quarterback Graham Harrell from Southern Cal in January.
“It definitely helped knowing Graham coming into it and having a really good relationship with him,” Daniels said. “Knowing that I trust that offense and that system, and I believe in it. I also feel really comfortable with Coach Brown and the ideas that he has and the way that he runs a program.”
Daniels fits well in Harrell’s quick-strike system, capable of directing an offense from the line of scrimmage with passing accuracy at all three levels into the defense.

The Mountaineers return all five starters on their offensive line and feature talent at the wideout position.

In the one game under Harrell, the 2019 season opener with Fresno State, Daniels directed the offense to more than 300 yards in the first half before suffering a torn ACL in the second quarter and missing the remainder of the season.
Then-freshman Kedon Slovis replaced Daniels in the Trojans’ offense in 2019 and went on to have a Freshman All-American campaign.
As fate would have it, Slovis transferred to Pitt, the team Daniels and West Virginia will open the season against on Sept. 1 in Heinz Stadium in Pittsburgh.
Daniels left USC in the spring of 2020, interviewing several head coaches and offensive coordinators before choosing Georgia based on conversations with Kirby Smart and offensive coordinator Todd Monken.

Daniels started the final four games of the 2020 season, passing for more than 400 yards in his first outing, and was the highest-rated returning quarterback in the nation.

At this point last year, was Georgia’s starting quarterback, directing a Pro-Style spread offense that Smart said was ahead of what proved to be a historically dominant defense before receiver George Pickens went down with a knee injury.

Daniels suffered an upper-body injury in the final fall scrimmage. The injury was kept hidden from the media but appeared to limit Daniels in the opening game against Clemson, as he donned a flak jacket for the 10-3 win over a Tigers team that finished second in the nation in scoring defense.
Daniels attempted to play through the injury in September, further aggravating it with an oblique injury and then lat sprain that led him to miss three games.
In his final start for Georga, against Vanderbilt, Daniels opened the game 9-of-10 passing to lead Georgia to a 35-0 first-quarter lead before exiting the contest after aggravating the upper-body injury.
Smart told ESPN leading up to the game with Florida he was not sure which quarterback on his team was better, Daniels or Bennett.

“I’m not sure we know who the better one is based on which game plan we have,” Smart said in the ESPN interview.
“There are teams we play that we have to be able to use the quarterback in the run game. Well, that’s Stetson. There are teams we play that you have to get the ball out quickly and be really accurate. That’s JT.”
Smart ultimately stuck with Bennett, with Daniels providing assistance and support from the sideline as the Bulldogs went on to win the CFP Championship Game.
Daniels had visited Oregon State and Missouri prior to choosing West Virginia, with Tigers’ coach Eli Drinkwitz the first to call the former Georgia QB when he entered the portal on Jan. 19.
Daniels is the third 5-star quarterback to transfer out of Smart’s Georgia program, joining Jacob Eason and Justin Fields. He is also the third 5-star recruit who played at UGA to enter the NCAA transfer portal this spring, joining Amarius Mims and Clay Webb, who entered the portal on Sunday.

Pay attention to me boy!I'm not just talkin' to hear my head roar. That's what I've been - I say, that's what I've been telling you, boy! Go, I say, go away, boy, you bother me.

Your guys do a great job developing talent. Our staff also does a fabulous job finding and developing talent that fits what we want. That's what they're all paid to do. It will be a great game between two evenly matched teams with kids who've proven they're ready to play.

Yeah, 2 evenly matched teams. Pitt is #17 and wvu is.....maybe #80? LOL! Like I said, get your facts straight and quit looking like a fool. I know that's tolerated on the hoopie wasteland board, but not here so much.

You must be happy to just have no life and do nothing but post on a competitor's message board and live through your team vicariously. I got news for you, junior. None of us, you included, will be playing this game. I know the braindead morons at wvu like to "brawl', as you put it, because that's how they can show their masculinity to their sisters and cousins.

This game is entertainment only and a good outlet for us, nothing more. It means little and the results will be forgotten quickly. Sure we want to win and probably will. But knock yourself out with posting like this. You are acting like the fool you are and we are laughing at all of you hoopies. LOL!

Just one suggestion. If you're going to post here, at least know your facts and quit acting like a fool so much.
If the game means nothing to you what are you so angry about? It means something to us...we don't like losing. So let's brawl!

OK we have no chance...you're ranked we're not so what are you worried about? Let's just brawl and see who's better?

I'm not angry. It takes a lot more than some clown from wvu to get me angry. You just have a very hard time understanding and comprehending the English language.

GET A LIFE, JUNIOR! Life isn't about some silly football game. Even when Pitt beats your sorry asses, the game will be over and we go on to the next one. That's all it means.

No "trolling" here...just a side-by-side comparison of our roster v your own and recruited star players since the two deeps for both outfits have all been announced and set.

Some of you probably weren't aware of just how much talent we've recruited at WVU, and will line up Thursday. You can't say you didn't know after reading our roster and comparing it to your own. See 'ya Thursday! ;)

The only "stars" you'll see (at WVU) after Thursday's game are the ones encircling your head; from the thrashing by the Panthers. H2P!

OK so if you lose, don't be sad. It means nothing to you anyway right?

It's a brawl...of the backyard type. (a rivalry game) We don't like Pitt and we're ready to fight just because we don't like you...are you ready to "brawl"?

That game was sold out mid summer. Most of the tickets bought up were by WV fans! If they opened up the whole stadium to us, we'd have bought out every seat...but they had to set at least 20K aside for the fair weather homers who haven't had many good reasons to even bother showing up at one of your regular conference games.
Man, leave that fentanyl alone before it kills you.

If interested, the Pitt vs Wake Forest ACC Championship Game will be rebroadcasted next on the ACC Network.

Just as soon as the wrap up of Pitt’s shoutout of WVU in soccer is finished, football will start.

Two of our 4 star LBs were transfers. One from Pedo State, the other from Syracuse. Our starting QB started for the National Champs.
And in your later post you revealed how they became the national champs: when they sat his @ss down and put the walk-on in.

OK so if you lose, don't be sad. It means nothing to you anyway right?

LOL! I won't be sad. I have a life. I know someone who will be sad late Thursday night, though. But just remember....it's only a game. There are 1000 more important things that will happen on Thursday than the Pitt-wvu football game.

See 'ya Thursday! ;)

Well, your coaching must really suck then with all that star power and nothing to show for it.

Wrong. I said no one beat him out! No one did. He left USC after a coaching change. OK. I understand that. No one beat him out there or at UGA when he transferred in and won that job. He was their starter...he got hurt...he was ready to resume his starting role that he had won in summer camp. However the team was winning with his replacement QB. They had a monster D, and their coach Kirby Smart didn't want to upset the chemistry they had developed with Bennett. They went on and won it all with him. JT could have come back, but how do you sit the starting QB off a National Championship team? JT didn't want to take away what Bennett had earned, so he decided to leave with two years of eligibility left.

He wasn't beat out, he left to be a starter somewhere else. That "somewhere else" is now West Virginia. You will hear from him playing for us.

You're like the West Virginia version of SMF, saying lots of words that say exactly the same thing that I did, and then pretending as if they mean something completely different.

If he was good enough, the new coaches at USC would have done whatever they could to keep him. They did no such thing. If he was good enough, Kirby Smart would have happily made him the starting quarterback when he came back from his injury. The fact of the matter, which you keep agreeing with while saying that you don't, is that he was not good enough to be the starter at either place when he came back. So he left to try to find someplace else he could play.

And then to top it all off, you quote an article where Smart says that Daniels wasn't better, and you are again using that to bolster your point that Daniels was better but left out of the goodness of his heart.

Good lord, are you dense.

I know the WVU faithful don't pay attention to a far worse conference like the ACC but throwing up how many stars your kids got while they were in HS is a wild flex against a school that routinely beats schools who consistently finish higher in the recruiting rankings.

As a whole, stars matter from a macro standpoint.

4+ years after high school? Not so much. No offense, but 4-stars don't transfer to West Virginia because their careers have gone how they wanted them to.

You think Pitt has never had 4 and 5-star transfers? Psssst... They mostly weren't very good.

If your final three is Oregon State, Mizzou, and WVU, well, is there more to be said?

Wow. Didn't realize how superior WVU was. I guess we shouldn't even show up on Thursday.

WVU was young in 2021. WVU is young in 2022. The difference is that WVU in 2022 has a p5 level QB. Last year they didn't. The Mountaineers had a very limited playbook because there were only a handful of plays Doege could hope to execute.

Records can be deceiving. WVU's 6-7 included 3 losses to TOP TEN programs. But with a different QB that 2021 is easily 3 wins better. Let me make that very clear... Doege was directly responsible for 2 of WVU's 6 regular season losses with absolutely terrible QB play. His play was a significant factor in the loss against Kansas State. His atrocious decision-making and poor throws almost cost WVU the win against VT.

Those sacks y'all point to as proof WVU's offensive line is inferior... 19 came against #7 Baylor and #9 Oklahoma State. Almost none of them were the fault of the OL.

Doege could barely complete a pass against man coverage. His indecision, lack of pocket presence, and immobility allowed opposing defenses to pack all 11 defenders near the LoS without risk. Doege couldn't beat a defense with his arm or legs. And when he was pressured he fell apart mentally.

Why did Doege continue to play? We just dunno. Backup Garrett Greene was a redshirt freshman who played more baseball than QB. Greene had a cannon for an arm and was a true dual-threat QB. The problem with Garrett was his lack of QB experience - combined with the COVID year - meant he rarely ran the play called.

Green took the snap, if his primary receiver was covered he just took off running. He didn't bother to read the defense, he just took off running. The only reason I can think of why Greene wasn't QB1 is that Brown, like nearly all head coaches, likes his QB to run the play that's actually called.

In retrospect, the 2021 season might have been different if VT scored on the terrible late interception by Doege. Blowing a big lead against VT might have forced Brown to anoint Greene as QB1. Greene's performance as QB1 could not have been worse than Doege.

So in 2021 WVU was very young, had a QB who is on the borderline of being FCS quality, and played what would have been a top ten schedule if not for LIU. As it is WVU was a top 25 strength of schedule last season.

6-7 was a freaking miracle.

Fast forward to 2022, Neal Brown has upgraded the roster at nearly every position of need. Narduzzi acknowledges how good JT Daniels is even if y'all refuse. The secondary was blown up and rebuilt with kids from the portal with the highest coverage grades available.

This is the most talented roster to play at WVU. And it finally has a QB who isn't a liability.

Sounds like the construction of this year's Hoopie team is almost heaven...

And then to top it all off, you quote an article where Smart says that Daniels wasn't better, and you are again using that to bolster your point that Daniels was better but left out of the goodness of his heart.

Good lord, are you dense.
OK so JT Daniels is a washed up ex-starter off a Championship team who lost his job and can't play anywhere else but poor 'ol West Virginia. Got it.

No where in this thread have I dismissed any of your talent. I simply offered a comparison of our rosters. You guys are the one dismissing us, and suggesting your roster is far more "developed". We'll see.

The OP is now quiet for awhile….he shift must be over and his mom is picking him up.
I just dropped in...I don't "hang out" on this board. Judging how defensive most of you got over a simple posting of our rosters I'd say you're the one who probably spends too much time on here? Win or lose I promise I'll come back here and and see what you all have to say?

I quoted that article as reasons JT chose us, not why he left Georgia. I guess reading comprehension is something they don't teach in the Cathedral of learning?

And in your later post you revealed how they became the national champs: when they sat his @ss down and put the walk-on in.
So it's your contention Kirby Smart was about to bench JT Daniels for Bennett before he got hurt? Try telling that to UGA fans.

But we proved your posting of star ratings was irrelevant. So why are you still here? What you posted was nonsense.

Just about every one of you is suggesting our kids aren't as good as your kids. That's fine. That's why we settle it on the field. I'm not "bashing" Pitt's players. Let's brawl and see what you've got?

It was just general information. I didn't claim anything by posting it, except that we match up well with your recruits on paper. all the other stuff came from your side. Other teams have rosters and recruit talented players you know. I'm perfectly willing to see who's team is better Thursday night? We may get our asses kicked, and we may just do the ass kickin'. Let's brawl and see who's left standing?

LOL! You still don't get it. You're a little thick, aren't you. We're not brawling!! Are you going to be on the field and fighting with Pitt fans? (who knows, maybe you will be. You wvu fans aren't real smart). The players will be playing a game, that's it. Nothing more than that. And after it's over, we go on to the next one because the last one doesn't matter. It's not a big deal!

There's a reason why your team is ranked somewhere below 80. It's not good at all.

I know better than to take anything for granted in college football. It's an emotionally-based game.

My point was just that it seems like a lot of these guys you're touting are transfers who were highly thought of as recruits.

We've had plenty of those. Most haven't worked out.

5* QB Max Browne
4* QB Joey Yellen
4* QB Ricky Town

4* TE Will Gragg
4* DE Dwayne Hendrix (supposedly unblockable)

3/4* JUCO OG Chase Brown
3* OL from Texas Brandon Hodges
3* OL from Michigan Nola Ulizio

I mean, you can't just assume these guys are going to come in and play up to their high school billing.

I've heard in multiple places that people like WVU's team this year, so I'm not dismissing it. I wouldn't bet a dime on this game. But I think we're coached better and know how to win better... and we replaced our two biggest losses with a freshman AA and a QB who's done it before. Is there a chance things don't work out for us this season? Absolutely. But most of the experts and most of the metrics seem to be more favorable to us this year than they are to you guys.

LOL! I won't be sad. I have a life. I know someone who will be sad late Thursday night, though. But just remember....it's only a game. There are 1000 more important things that will happen on Thursday than the Pitt-wvu football game.
... and I'm sure you'll be doing 999 "other things" than watching that game.
