Was there anything that ever came out why he was kicked out of Penn State? Was it serious? Kid looks like a hell of a player and imo would get PT his first year.

Please no pissing match.

I believe it was reported that he will have 3 to play 3.

Hope he picks us.

It wasn't one thing … work ethics, attitude, and grade issues. Didn't last a semester at PSU. They saw red flags in high school and took a chance.

Doesn't mean it can't work out for him now.

The staff really want him,he would start for us this year if he comes here and I think that's the intent with the staff instead of relying on kids who haven't played yet

Didn't he attend Last Chance U (good documentary on that school, by the way)?

That usually means you messed up a lot but are looking to not mess up again. Players that go there typically didn't just miss a class or two at their former school. But a lot players come out of there with a new look on things.

I don't think he would start right away. I think Watts and Taleni have that locked down. Camp and Carter would probably be the top 2 backupz imo.

Curious to hear about wheeler. Kid from PCC. Thought he was a pretty decent recruit. Remember him being rather light and athletic. Possibly a larger DE.

From what I've heard that's a pretty accurate description, was told he has the ability to be disruptive with his penetration, but that he's inconsistent and needs to get stronger.

He'll be in the rotation at DT. By the time the year is over, you go through at least 5 or 6.

I think DE has enough bodies, and if they bring in 4 more DE's this class PLUS move Pugh (mistake imo) then they have more than enough.

Pugh has gotten pretty big,if would be ideal if he could replace price and be that edge rusher we need

He was a monster when he came out of Aliquippa. Curious how much bigger he is than the 6'1" ~205 he was when he left HS.

Hendrix, Blair, Edwards, folston, maybe that weaver dude that redshirted.

Blair has too much experience to not be in rotation. I actually like folston. I don't know about Edwards, the board seems higher on him than me. Just didn't see him do anything.

I am as excited about Pugh as anyone but this move to DE has pushed him back a year with regards to getting game reps. A move that I hope is worth it in the long run.

To quote slider in top gun, "gutsiest move I ever saw man"

Forgot about Patrick jones too. Him and weaver both had some good offer sheets.

240 is definately NOT too big to play LB. he's actually too small ar 240 to play DE. Needs another 20-25lbs for that.

Yeah, physically not there and of course, he never played the position. I trust duzzer and all but it just sucks because realistically, you can't expect to see Pugh be in the rotation as you would if he was still a linebacker.Maybe, best case, situational rush situations.

Hoping weaver and especially jones put on 15-20 good pounds in their redshirt year.

O'Neil did it in a year so yeah it's not that much, who knows what he is at right now and if PN wants him to play end he's gonna have to add the weight

O'Neill pretty much says it was terrible. I don't think it's a good idea to expect kids to do that on a regular basis. There's enough talent at DE that you can keep Pugh at a position of desperate need. Only way you consider moving him is if you get Proctor. Brightwell and Pine can't carry a LB core.

If Pugh us at de, you give him a year to get ready. And hope he is ready to compete by his redshirt soph year. Next year we lose Edwards and Blair, folston and Hendrix will be seniors. You do this move, its to benefit '18,'19, and '20 not for 2017.

Does Hendrix petition for a medical redshirt... being game 1...

I'm sure pitt personnel will try if it's worth it. Hopefully he has 2 good years and has a shot in the league. 6 years of college is a looong time.

I'll I know is that it was a violation of team rules. Had it been criminal, I'm sure we'd all know more.

What other schools is this carter kid considering? I'll be honest, I know little about this kid.

This is what I was able to find. Don't know if he has actual offers.

Carter says that he’s seriously interested in 4 schools right now: Pitt, Virginia Tech, Louisville and Memphis.

Penn State DT Kamonte Carter booted from team for violation of team rules

April 30, 2016 at 3:50 PM, updated April 30, 2016 at 3:56 PM
Back on March 14, Penn State coach James Franklin said redshirt freshman defensive tackle Kamonte Carter was "maturing in a lot of different ways." Now, as April turns to May, he is no longer a member of the Penn State football program. Lions247 first reported that the Maryland native had been removed from the Lions' roster for an unspecified violation of team rules, apparently due to an incident dating back to a few days after the program's Blue-White game concluded spring practice. Penn State has since confirmed the report. "Kam Carter was informed on April 21 that he is no longer a member of the Penn State football team for a violation of team rules," the program said in a statement. "We appreciate Kam's contributions to the program and wish him success in the future." Carter had put on significant weight during his redshirt season last winter and first winter conditioning session heading into spring drills with intentions of moving inside to defensive tackle. He figured to be buried on the depth chart in 2016 while he learned the finer aspects of playing the postiion before being a contributor down the road.

He was very highly regarded as an "athlete" in HS. Actually played Olb his junior year, IMO, didn't look impressive, looked sluggish there. Played DE his last year and was recruited there to psu.

Ended up putting on weight and moving to DT his redshirt year and wasn't getting great reviews.

He he was really talked up as a high character kid, and leader up until he got booted off the team. Just a big disconnect between what he was portrayed up to that point and what people are saying.

Just feels like he did something and they used that to clear him out. His video from this year, he is at dt, isn't Aaron Donald Jr, looks the part at that level, but isn't tearing it up. Plays a bit high, makes some plays but isn't a monster.

Just saying, people are looking at his high school creds and maybe getting ahead of themselves. He is worth a shot for a team looking to restock the DL, he would functionally be a redshirt sophomore in the fall, so it is like back filling a 2015 kid. And, maybe his talent blossoms at dt.
But, people might want to temper expectations.
