"We weren't 34-4 playing in the toy poodle league. We were 19-1 playing in the Big 12. Playing in the Big 12 helped us. Shout out to my Big 12 brethren."

The ACC is B-A-D bad and this probably isn't fixable.

Those are the types of remarks that get followed up with a loss. Karma and all that happy shit

He wasn't talking about the ACC. He was caught up in the moment and forgot what league he was playing in (Big 12). He finally got it out the next iteration.

You're reading something that isn't there if you think that was directed at the ACC.

I think its his way of reminding critics that predicted that Houston might fall back to the pack once they made the jump from the AAC to the Big 12.

That's exactly what I thought of when I heard it last night.

0.0% in the world, and especially after playing in the AAC not long ago themselves, would he be using that platform to harangue a conference. Especially after Duke had them all but beat.

I heard that and no one can deny there’s truth to what he said but the statement also discounts the fact that Duke is very good and Houston was extraordinarily lucky to win that game. And the refs get a big assist on that win. Both the technical call and the call at the end were terrible….and they played a huge part in Houston’s win. I hope Florida beats the crap out of Houston…I think the average age of their starting lineup is probably about 27,( as compared to Duke starting 3 true freshmen)which loud mouth Sampson also ignored in expressing his bravado after the game.

He didn’t
He just stated the truth that Houston was batle tested
Duke played an incredibly difficult OOC to likewise get ready .

It took Duke to collapse for Houston to advance , and credit to Houston for clamping down on defense and making clutch shots.

So Duke didn’t get calls? I bet their message boards are a fun read right now.

Houston reminds me of the old Georgetown’s teams….very physical to the point that the refs seemed to become inured to their pushing, shoving and holding… you could call them for a foul every time they transitioned to D so after a point the refs start calling a different game .

Not sure about that. It is easy criticism of defensive teams that they are holding, pushing, etc. Houston moves their feet really well.

And they play with relentless effort in everything they do at both ends. Impressive the way Kelvin has built that program. You look at the identity of a program, Houston's is very well defined. Relentless and physical is the best way to describe it, they just keep coming at you at all times.
